(A memorandum filed with the will dated January 9, 1754 contains the following: John BEVERT died about 5 years ago possessed of an estate of £40 to £50, near Maxatawny. He left a widow Anna Delia who intermarried with Jacob GRENOBLE about 4 years ago, and 4 children. Another Memorandum dated January 25, 1754 contains the following: This was brought to me as copy of John BEBERT's will (of a tract of land not erected into a Township near Maxatawny) by Anna Delia wife of Jacob GRENOBLE who was the widow of said BEBERT. Catharine who married Adam STAUB is a child by a former vater (father). There are 3 other children ... father. Anna Delia says the said BEBERT gave them all their portions before marrying her. Her children are Elisabeth Margaret about 17 years old, Conrad about 16 years, Magdalena about 11 years and Henry age 7. The former children are Catharine, John, Sarah and Mary.)

And to the Half bushel Maker, with this proviso that if either of the 3, viz, Anna Barbara BROWN, Margred Elisabeth SHAFFER, and Elizabeth SHAFFER would live upon that piece of land they shall give to above mentioned 4, viz., John Nicklaus SHAFFER, Maria Margred HEININ, and Maria Catharine SHAFFER, and my grandson John Jacob LESH, £150 but if neither of the 3 will live upon the land then it shall be sold by Exrs. as dear as it can and the money divided among them four."
