The frequent calls upon to record the departure of our old friends, to that life which is made up of “two willing hearts,” seems to assure us that we are soon to be left solitary and alone, not only matrimonially but abstractedly. Well, it may be better to live abstracted than to go distracted, as it is said men mostly go, contemplating matrimony. Col. Roddy, we bid you good bye, and hope you will be as good a citizen in the state of matrimony as you were in the state of “single blessedness.” Our best wishes attend you.

MARRIED

BENITZ-KEFFER— On Thursday morning, June 3d, at St. Johns Church Uniontown, Fayette county, Pa., by Rev. R. Waters, Mr. John J. Benitz of Pittsburgh and Miss Lucy A. Keffer, of Uniontown. With the above notice came the usual gift – Ice Cream and Cake, which never has been known to be refused by the printer. In accepting the same and in returning our kind wishes for the donors, would say that the blandishments and attractions of a gallant gentleman found favor in the sight of one who was the light of the household. May their days be tranquil, and their bark glide down an easy current, without a ripple save the wave of gladness, and no murmur except the sweet whisper of love. May adverse winds never find an entrance into their domestic bower – no cloud of sorrow every o’er shadow their sky of felicity; and our earnest prayer is for their present, future and eternal happiness. Wedded love is founded on esteem, which the fair merits of the mind engage. For those are charms which never can decay, But time which gives new whiteness to the swan, improves their luster. Emma BROWNFIELD married William T. MOORE

MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM T. MOORE
OBSERVE 55TH ANNIVERSARY TODAY

Mr. and Mrs. William T. Moore, at their home, 193 Lincoln street, will observe "open house" today, as they quietly celebrate their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. On February 9, 1876, Miss Emma Brownfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Brownfield, and William T. Moore were united in marriage in the Methodist Episcopal church parsonage, Fayette street, this city, by the Rev. J. J. Moffitt, the principal witnesses being Mrs. Kate Ritenour and Mrs. Julia L. Hadden. Following the wedding the couple were serenaded by the famous Rutter's Brass Band, and later went to housekeeping in Beeson boulevard, better known then as "Dog Alley." Eight children were born to this union, five of whom are still living. Five years ago, February 9, 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Moore celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the White Swan Hotel, which just the year before had replaced the historic old home in which Mrs. Moore was born and spent her girlhood days. Of the many guests that were present for that occasion, 41 have since passed to the Great Beyond. Mrs. Moore, of a family of 12 children, is the only one living in the city, the youngest being a sister, Mrs. Ellis A. Gray, now residing in St. Charles, Illinois. A host of friends will delight today in the opportunity of extending to the Moore’s hearty congratulations and sincerest wishes for many returns of the happy occasion.
