From Hymen’s altar wreathed with flowers, Along through Love’s enchanted bowers, Glide on down life’s smooth stream; The Sun’s bright rays your way illume, And lovely flowers about you bloom, And – storms – be but a dream! Ah! calm and sunshine do not last! Dark clouds you sky may overcast, And tempests overwhelm; But lo! a star breaks through the gloom! Follow its light ‘twill guide you home, It is – “THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM.”
