Nancy J. Harding

Registered surname(s): Dengler on December 15, 2012

Comments: I am researching one of the Dengler lines for my children, grandchildren and when they get a little older my great grandchildren. I have collected a great deal of information, but I can go no further back until I locate the parents and birthplace of George Dengler b. 15 May 1800, d. 22 Mar 1866 in Berks county. He is buried alongside his wife Anna Christina Luther Dengler born 5 Jan 1799, d.20 Dec 1876 in Aulenbach Cemetery along with many other Denglers. He owned quite a bit of property in the Mt.Penn area, was a farmer, had a lime kiln, ran a tavern stand and had houses and property in Reading City. I do have copies of his will and also Christina's will but there was no clue as to his origins. From one of the census sheets I realized that he and his parents were apparently born in PA.I am also still seasrching for the maiden name of Christina's mother. Her father was Peter Carl Luther and her mother's first name was Wilhelmina. If anyone has the answers to my queries I will be very greatful for them. There are several Dengler families and several George Denglers which sort of muddies the waters. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Joseph A. "Joe" Hittle

Registered surname(s): Bacher, Bachert, Ebener, Ebner, Gehman, Hittel, Hittle, Rehrig, Roehrig on October 20, 2009

Web site: Hittle Genealogy Symposium

Comments: Hoping to find the parents of Johan and Anna Margretha (Roehrig) Ebner/Ebener. John and Margaret were participants at "Mertz Church" in Rockland Township, baptizing their sons Lorenz and Conrad there in 1762 and 1770 respectively. John is found on Bern Township tax lists as early as 1758 and as late as 1790.

Lorenz Ebner married Salome Gehman and removed to the Ben Salem Church area in old Penn Township, Northampton County. Both are buried there, Lorenz having died in 1842, Salome in 1848 according to their gravestones. At this point, I have no idea who Salome's parents were, but I heavily suspect that she ties into the Hereford Township Gehmans. Lorenz and Salome's daughter Catharine married Anthony Bachert, son of Nicholas Bachert and possibly Susannah Bock, but Nicholas may have first been married to one of the Anthony daughters from northern Northampton County.

My Nicholas Bachert is neither of the Nicholas Bacherts (Sr/Jr) who lived in Albany Township, Berks County, but the naming patterns in both families are extremely similar. My Nicholas Bachert died in 1824 in Columbia County, which precludes him from being either of the Albany Township Nicholas Bacherts.

Frederick Hittel and Leonard Rishel who sold lands to the Kutz family upon which they established Kutztown were brothers-in-law. Leonard Rishel's first wife, Magdalena Hittel was Frederick's sister, both children of Georg Michael Hittel who died 1786 in Salisbury Township, Northampton County. Another son, George Michael Hittle (Jr) is my 4G - Grandfather.

Joseph Hittle, grandson of George Michael Hittle (Jr) via his son David, married Magdalena "Mary/Mollie" Bachert, daughter of Anthony and Catharine (Ebner) Bachert. So, all of my surname queries are for direct lines in my ahnentafel.
