Tinker Ridge Cemetery - Wharton Township
Compiled by Bonnie Ward, Fern Park, FL
My husband and I extracted Tinker Ridge 20 Jul 1986. This is what we found
at that time. The cemetery is on private property. It is approx. 60' x
60', the condition was fair, fenced on three sides, a tree line on the
fourth. This cemetery is also known as Wable Cemetery. It is accessible by
car with a little walking. Directions: From Ohiopyle (Stewart Township) go
south on Rt. 381 go to the intersection of Dinner Bell Road. Go left on
Dinner Bell Road for 3.5 miles. This is the corner of the Bryner/Wable
property. Along the edge of the property is a line of trees, follow them
about 80 yards to the cemetery on the right. We received permission from
Melvin Bryner to go on his land and extract the cemetery.
The eight tombstones that are standing are traditional but there are about
two dozen locust wood plank markers, two of which were legible, all in
various stages of rot. Many, many sunken, unmarked graves. The cemetery
appeared to be full.
The following is a listing of the graves that were marked.
