Jumonville Orphan's Cemetery - North Union Twp.

Compiled by Ken O'Neal

This cemetery was for the students who died at the school at the Jumonville school for orphans of soldiers of the Civil War. It operated from 1868 to 1908. During that time, 33 students died. If a family wished, the body would be returned by train, to his home community. There were no records kept of students who died or ones that are buried there. There is one stone, placed there by the Orphans' School Reunion.

The inscription reads, "Here are buried a number of the 33 students of the Jumonville Soldiers' Orphans School who died between Sept. 1866 and May 31, 1908"
