FUNERALS

 

James F. NAFTZINGER, son of Jacob and his wife nee ALTHOUSE[no first name given], was born Dec. 26, 1858 in Center Twp., and was baptized in infancy.  He was confirmed in St. Michael's Church Apr. 13, 1872 by Pastor Leinbach.  The first time he married Kate B. DEGLER Dec. 1, 1877, with whom he has one son.  His second marriage was to Miss Emma S. POTTEIGER, March 31, 1912, by Rev. R.S. Appel.  He died May 28, 1919, aged 60 yrs., 5 mos., 2 days.  The funeral was held June 3, 1919 in Frieden's Church.  He is survived by his widow and son.  For 30 years he was borh S. S. Superintendent and organist and choirmaster of Friedens Church, and taught public school for 41 years.  Text, Lk. 2:29.

Mrs. Saliesa NUNEMACHER, daughter of John MILLER and his wife Lovina, nee BOLTZ, was born Jan 13, 1843, and was baptized March 5, 1843, by Rev. Minnig.  She was confirmed April 10, 1858 in Zion Church by Rev. Dietzler.  She was married to Benj. F. NUNEMAKER Nov. 19, 1861 who died 34 years ago.  She died March 27, 1920, aged 77 years, 2 months, 14 days.  She is survived by 3 sons, 4 daughters, 22 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. The funeral was held in Friedens church Mar. 31, 1920.  Text, Is. 66:13.

Geary NAPP, son of Noah and his wife Catherine, nee STEINBACH, was born May 28, 1867 in Bethel Twp., and was bptized by Rev. Grahn.  He was confirmed in Salem church in 1885 by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  He was married Aug. 1, 1887[wife not named], and died March 30, 1920, aged 52 years, 10 months, 2 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, and 3 daughters, and 4 sisters.  The funeral took place in Salem church April 3, 1920. Adam Paul OXENREIDER, son of John and his wife Catharine, nee WEISS, was born Aug. 30, 1855 in Jefferson Twp., and was baptized Oct. 21, 1855, by Rev. Zehring.  He was confirmed May 4, 1872 in Corner church by Rev. Finfrock.  He was married to Louisa SCHAEFFER May 28, 1881 by Rev. A.J. Long.  He died April 7, 1920, aged 64 years, 7 months, 7 days.  He is survived by his widow, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 9 grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.  The funeral was held at Christ church April 12, 1920.  Text, Rom. 14:8.

William H. RENTSCHLER, son of Wm. H. and his wife Sallie K. nee KANTNER, was born May 8, 1891 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized June 28, 1891, by Rev. Finfrock. In 1902 he was confirmed in Zion church by Rev. Pfleuger.  He was married to Sadie HILL, Oct. 15, 1912 by Rev. Morgan.  He died April 12, 1920, aged 28 years, 11 months, 4 days.  His survivors are his widow, mother, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. The funeral took place at Zion church April 15.  Text, Mt. 7:1-2.

John F. HENNE, son of Jared and his wife Sarah, nee FOX, was born Dec. 19, 1865 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Jan. 28, 1865 by Rev. Grahn.  He was confirmed in Zion church April 16, 1881 by Rev. Finfrock.  He was married to Agnes N. FEICK, July 2, 1892 by Rev. Kramlich.  He died April 29, 1920, aged 55 years, 4 months, 10 days.  He is survived by his widow, mother, 2 sisters, 2 brothers.  The funeral was held May 5, 1920 in Zion church.  Text, Heb. 13:14.

Henry Webster CLAY, son of Benneville, and his wife Lydia, nee BOLTZ, was born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., Nov. 6, 1848, and was baptized by Rev. David Hassinger.  Rev. Finfrock confirmed him in Zion church.  He was married April 30, 1870 to Ellenora UNGER.  He died May 19, 1920, aged 72 years, 6 months, 13 days.  The funeral took place on May 24 at Zion church.  Text, Col., 3:2.  The survivors are four daughters.

Mrs. Katie C. LONG, daughter of Geo. F.K. WANN and his wife Louisa[maiden name not given] was born Jan. 18, 1874 and was baptized in infancy.  She was confirmed in Friedens church by Rev. Trexler.  She was married to Milton H. LONG[date not given], which union was blessed with four children.  She died June 16, 1920 in the Reading hospital, aged 46 years, 4 months, and 29 days.  She is survived by her husband, 4 children, her father and 2 brothers.  The funeral took place in Friedens chruch June 21.  Text I Thess. 4:13.

Henry Wm. SCHLASEMAN, son of John and his wife Juddy [typo], nee BELLEMAN was born Dec. 14, 1861 in Bethel Twp., and was baptized May 15, 1862 by Rev. Eggers.  He was confirmed by Rev. Finfrock in Zion church.  He married Matilda Rebecca NOECKER, Aug. 2, 1884, by Rev. Trexler.  He died June 20, 1920, aged 58 years, 6 months, 6 days.  He is survived by 7 children.  The funeral was held June 24 at Zion church.  Text, Mk. 14:38.

Mrs. Ellen Maria WERETMAN, daughtrer of Benneville ZERBE and his wife Elizabeth, nee WENRICH, was born May 15, 1849 in Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized June 16, 1849.  She was confirmed in Christ church.  She was married to John F. WERTMAN, May 17, 1872 by Rev. Finfrock.  She died June 21, 1920, aged 71 years, 1 month and 6 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 3 daughters and 20 grandchildren.  The funeral was held at Host church June 26.  Text, Ps. 90:12.

Adam S. WERTMAN, son of Jesse and his wife Polly, nee STRAUSS, was born Jan 15, 1846 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized in infancy.  He was confirmed in Zion Lutheran church.  He was married to Catherine FEICK[no date given].  On June 26, 1920 he died, aged 74 years, 5 months, 12 days.  He is survived by his wife and son.  The funeral was held July 1, 1920 in Zion church.  Text, Lk, 10:27.

Mrs. Elizabeth HENNE, daughter of John MILLER and his wife Esther, nee KOCH, was born Oct. 16, 1823 in Nowegian Twp., Schuylkill Co., and was baptized april 19, 1824 by Rev. Minnig.  she was confirmed in St. Michael's by Rev. harple.  She was married Jan. 21, 1844 to Elias HENNE by Rev. Minnig.  She died June 28, 1920, aged 96 years, 8 months and 12 days.  She is survived by 1 son, 2 deaughters, 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.  The funeral was July 2, in Friedens church.  Text, ps. 39:8.

Mrs. alice SCHAEFFER, daughter of James McALLILSTER and his wife Amelia, nee SCHELL, was born Dec. 5, 1859, and was baptized Mar. 17, 1860.  She was confirmed Mar. 26, 1875 in Christ church by Rev. D. D. Trexler.  She was married Feb. 5, 1876 to Jacob SCHAEFFER by Rev. Finfrock.  She died aug. 23, 1920, aged 61 years, 7 months and 19 days.  Her husband, 3 sons, 4 daughters, 1 sister and 6 grandchildren survive.[no funeral or text info given].

Catharine GOTTSCHALL, daughter of John and his wife Salome, nee LENGEL, was born April 10, 1846, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized July 12, 1846, by Rev. Minnig.  She was confirmed in her youth at Zion church and died Nov. 10, 1920, aged 74 years, 7 months.  She was the last of her family. [no indication of marriage] The funeral was held in Zion church Nov. 15. Text, Gen. 49:18.

Mrs. Casseia Elizabeth SEYFERT, daughter of Samuel TROUTMAN and his wife Anna, nee WINK, was born in Albany Twp., June 9, 1850, and was baptized Aug. 4, 1850 by Pastor Herman.  She was confirmed at the White church, Wesnersville, by Rev. Jaeger.  She married Benjamin H. SEYFERT through Rev. Jaeger, Nov. 2, 1872.  She died Nov. 12, 1920, aged 70 years, 5 months and 3 days.  The survivors are her husband, a daughter, 3 sons, 1 sister and 3 brothers.  The funeral was held at Friedens church, Nov. 18.  Text, Is. 3:10.

Miles Robert BERTRAM, son of James E. and his wife Sadie M., nee HOWER, was born Dec. 14, 1919 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized May 16, 1920 by Rev. Klick.  He died Nov. 16, 1920, aged 11 months, and 2 days.  The survivors are the parents and two brothers.  The funeral was held at the house, Nov. 19, interment was made at Zion church cemetery.  Text, Mt. 18:14.

Milton Levi HIMMELBERGER, son of Levi W. and his wife Sarah, nee MILLER, was born Oct. 29, 1879, in Jefferson Twp., and was baptized Dec. 20, 1879 by Rev. Trexler.  He was confirmed Oct. 10, 1896 by Rev. Kramlich.  He was married Dec. 10[year not given] to Emma BINNER by Rev. T.C. Leinbach.  He died Dec. 6, 1920, aged 41 years, 1 month and 17 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  He was buried Dec. 11 at Zion church.  Text, Mk. 13:35-37.

Mrs. Elizabeth REBER, daughter of William HAAG and his wife Sara, nee GREIM, was born Feb. 15, 1856 in Upper Bern Twp., and was baptized May 23, 1836 by Rev. Minnig.  She was confirmed by Rev. Dietzler at Zion church.  She married Emanuel REBER Feb. 9[year unreadable].  She died Oct. 25, 1920, aged 84 years, 8 months and 10 days.  She is survived by 2 sons, 5 daughters, 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 sister.  The funeral took place Oct. 28 at Zion church.  In the absence of the pastor, Rev. Kidd officiated. [no text given]

Henry WIANT, son of Jeremiah and his wife Catharine, nee LONG, was born Dec. 15, 1839 in Bethel Twp., and was baptized Mar. 15, 1840 by Rev. T.C. Leinbach.  He was confirmed by Rev. Grahn in salem church.  He was married to Elizabeth BAER in April 1858, by Rev. Grahn.  He died Jan. 10, 1921, aged 81 years, 26 days.  He is survived by 9 children, 35 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  The funeral was held on Jan. 14, at Salem church.  Text, Rev. 2:10.

Mrs. Annie Laura BRIGHT, daughter of Wm. E. ZERBY and his wife Sarah, nee KAUFMAN, was born Dec. 28, 1881 in North heidelberg Twp., and was baptized April 23, 18812, by Rev. Long.  She was confirmed Oct. 18, 1896 at Christ church by Rev. Long.  She was married to Harvey BRIGHT, Jan. 13, 1900 by Rev. Leinbach.  She died Jan. 26, 1921, aged 39 years, and 28 days.  She is survived by 7 children, 2 brothers and 1 sister.  The funeral was held at the house and interment was made at Christ church Jan. 28.  Text, Ruth 1:16-17.

August WAGNER, son of Benjamin and his wife Lydia, nee BOYER, was born Nov. 16, 1843 in Bern Twp., and was baptized Feb. 14, 1844 by Rev. Minnig.  He was confirmed at St. Michael's by Pastor Jaeger.  He was married to Sarah RITZMAN Aug. 1, 1863 through B.D. Zweizig.  He died Jan. 29, 1921, aged 77 years, 2 months and 13 days.  His survivors are his widow, 3 sons, 6 daughters, 1 brother, 1 sister, 50 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  The funeral was held at Friedens church Feb. 3.  The text was Rom. 8:18.

Elias W. BALTHASER, son of Jeremiah and his wife Catharine, nee WILLIAMS, was born May 26, 1847, in Upper Bern Twp., and was baptized June 20, 1847 by Rev. Moyer.  He was confirmed at St. Michael's by Pastor Jaeger.  On Oct. 12, 1872 he was married to Anna GRAEFF by B.D. Zweizig.  He died Feb. 2, 1921, aged 74 years, 9 months and 6 days. He is survived by his widow, 7 sons, 4 daughters, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 28 grandchildren.  Funeral at Zion church Feb. 7. Text, Col. 3:2.

John Adam HOLZMAN, son of John and his wife Mary, nee DERR, was born Jan 26, 1855 in Jefferson Twp., and was baptized Mar. 13, 1855, by Rev. Dietzler. He was confirmed Nov. 11, 1871 at Host by Rev. Finfrock.  He was married Aug. 7, 1880 to Kate R. FAORING by Rev. Finfrock.  He died Feb. 11, 1921, aged 66 years, 16 days.  He is survived by 1 daughter, 1 sons [typo], 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister.  The funeral was held Feb. 18 at St. Paul's church.  Text, Mt. 25:31.

Charles Calvin STRAUSS, son of Wilson W. and his wife Clara F., nee HENNE, was born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., June 22, 1879, and was baptized Aug. 10, 1879 by Rev. Finfrock.  He was confirmed Oct. 13, 1894 in Zion church by Pastor W.W. Kramlich.  He died March 17, 1921, aged 41 years, 8 months and 15 days.  He is survived by his parents and a sister.  The funeral was held March 22, at Zion church.  Text, I Cor. 15:42-44.

Mrs. Elizabeth SEITZINGER, daughter of Michael MOHN and his wife Vrona nee SCHERK, was born April 22, 1837, in East Hanover, Lebanon Co., and was baptized July 16, 1882[bapt. date may be wrong] by Rev. Leinbach.  She was married Oct. 6, 1877 to John SEITZINGER by Pastor Finfrock.  She died March 25, 1921, aged 83 years, 11 months and 3 days.  She is survived by a sister, 2 brothers and 3 grandchildren.  The funeral took place on March 31 at Zion church.  Text, I Cor. 15:55-58.
