FUNERALS

 

Mrs. Hannah MOLL, daughter of Levi CHRISTMAN and his wife Catherine, nee WAGNER, was born Jan. 5, 1855, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Feb. 17, 1855, by Pastor Zehring. She was confirmed in Zion church by Pastor Schwartz, April 22, 1871.  November 28, 1874, she married Isaac MOLL, Rev. Schwartz officiating.  she died april 7, 1921, aged 66 years, 3 mos., 2 days. she is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren, and 2 brothers. The funeral took place April 12, in Zion church. Text, Is. 66:13.

Enoch DEGLER, son of John M. and his wife Elizabeth, nee BOESHORE, was born in 1851. He died April 20, 1921, at the Reading Hospital, aged about 70 years. Funeral in Zion church, April 24, in connection with the regular service. There survive 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  Text, Gen. 25:34.

Charls Jacob SHEETZ, son of Harry H. SHEETZ and his wife Laura, nee POTTEIGER, was born July 6, 1917, at Bernville, and was baptized Aug. 26, 1917, by Pastor Klick.  He died April 9, 1921, aged 3 years, 9 mos., 3 days.  He is survived by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and a grandmother.  The funeral was held in Christ church, April 12. George F.K. WANN, son of Samuel and his wife Elizabeth, nee KAUFMAN, was born Nov. 1, 1851, at Port Clinton, and was baptized Nov. 16, 1851, by Rev. Blatt.  He was confirmed at St. Michael's church by Pastor Zweizig March 30, 1866.  He married Louise A. CHRIST July 5, 1873, Pastor T.C. Leinbach officiating.  He died May 13, 1921, at Reading, aged 69 years, 6 mos., 12 days.  He is survived by 2 sons and 8 grandchildren.  The funeral took place at Friedens church May 16. Mrs. Lydia BINNER, nee DEGLER, daughter of John M. and his wife Elizabeth, nee BOESHORE, was born Nov. 17, 1840, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized as an adult.  She was married to Elias BINNER Oct. 28, 1865, by Pastor Schwartz.  She died May 12, 1921, aged 79 years, 5 mos., 4 days. She is survived by her husband, 9 children, 3 bros., and 2 sisters. The funeral was held May 18, in Zion church.  Text, Lk. 10:23.

Albert Harrison RUPP, son of Charles W., and his wife Athian, nee OXENREIDER, was born June 17, 1903, at Bernville.  He was baptized Oct. 6, 1903, by Pastor A.J. Long.  He was confirmed Oct. 19, 1918, in Christ church by Pastor Klick.  He died June 2, 1921, aged 17 yrs., 11 mos., 15 days.  He is survived by his parents, 6 brothers, and 5 sisters. The funeral was held in Christ church June 7.  Text, Mt. 24:44.

George Edward KANTNER, son of John and his wife Minnie, nee LIVERS, was born April 2, 1915, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized by Pastor Klick, May 23, 1915, 1915.  He died June 15, 19121, at Hamburg, aged 6 yrs., 2 mos., 13 days.  He is survived by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.  Funeral private on the cemetery of Trinity church. Henry DECK, son of John and his wife Martha, nee ROYER, was born Jan. 7, 1844, in Bethel Twp., and was baptized Feb. 14, 1844, by Pastor T.H. Leinbach.  He was confirmed May 7, 1859, by Pastor L.G. Eggers, at Rehrersburg.  He was married to Fyanna SMITH Aug. 3, 1867, by Pastor C.H. Leinbach.  He died June 29, 1921, aged 77 yrs., 5 mos., 22 days.  He is survived by a daughter, 1 brother, 3 sisters.  The funeral was held July 4, in Salem church. Text, Job 16:22.

William BERTRAM, son of Daniel and his wife, Amanda, nee HUMMEL, was born Oct. 30, 1890, in Bethel Twp., and was baptized June 13, 1892, by Rev. Eli Hiester. He was confirmed Oct. 26, 1907, by Pastor Pflueger in Zion church.  He died Aug. 1, 1921, aged 30 yrs., 9 mos., 1 day.  He is survived by his parents, 6 sisters, 2 brothers.  The funeral was held Aug. 5, in Zion church.  Text, Is. 38:1.

Mrs. Clara Jane GERHARD, nee MANBECK, daughter of August and his wife Sebilla, nee SCHNEIDER, was born July 31, 1858, in Bethel Twp., and was baptized in infancy by Pastor Eggers.  She was confirmed May 15, 1875, in Altalaha Lutheran church by Pastor A.J. Long.  She was married to Wm. GERHARD Jan. 26, 1878, by Pastor A.J. Long.  She died Aug. 6, 1921, aged 63 yrs., 5 days.  She is survived by 1 son, 3 daughters, 1 sister, 1 brother and 2 grandchildren.  The funeral was held Aug. 11 in Trinity church. Text, Jn. 8:51.

William C. RITZMAN, son of Israel and his wife Jane, nee CLOUSER, was born June 8, 1899, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized in infancy by Pastor Kramlich.  He was confirmed in 1915 in Alsace Lutheran church by Pastor C.E. Kistler.  He was a service man in the World War and was killed June 7, 1918, at Chateau Thierry.  Age 18 yrs., 11 mos., 29 days.  He is survived by his parents, 5 bros., and 3 sisters.  He was enlisted in Company C, 9th Infantry.  The funeral was held Sept. 3, 1921 at Zion church. Miss Priscilla PEIFFER, nee SCHAEFFER, daughter of Benjamin and his wife Elizibeth, nee JERKIN, was born Jan. 20, 1843, in Bethel Twp., and was baptized Mar. 18, 1843, by Pastor Ulrich.  She was confirmed by Pastor Eggers, at Altalaha Lutheran church.  She was married the first time to Wm. PEIFFER, in 1875, by Rev. Schwartz.  The second time she was married to Jacob PEIFFER, June 4, 1892, by Pastor T.C. Leinbach.  She died May 14, 1920, aged 77 years, 3 mos., 24 days.  She is survived by her husband, 1 daughter.  The funeral was held May 18, in Salem church.  Text, Ps. 119:166.

Mrs. Emma Elizabeth FEICK, nee NAFTZINGER, daughter of John and his wife Mary, nee WERNER, was born April 21, 1857, in Centre Twp., and was baptized Aug. 30, 1857, by Rev. Jaeger.  She was confirmed in Belleman's church by Rev. Zweizig, April 20, 1872.  On March 11, 1877, she was married to Adam L. FEICK by pastor Trexler.  She died Sept. 12, 1921, aged 64 yrs., 4 mos., 21 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 5 grandchildren, and 2 brothers.  The funeral was held Sept. 17, in Friedens church.  Text, Lk. 22: 29-30.

Mrs. Sarah ROTHERMEL, nee HIMMELBERGER, was born July 7, 1855, and was baptized in infancy.  She was confirmed in Tulpehocken Reformed church.  She was married to Jacob ROTHERMEL, which union was blessed with 7 children.  She died Sept. 6, 1921, at Womelsdorf, aged 66 yrs., 1 mo., 29 days.  She is survived by her husband, 5 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother, and 1 step-sister.  The funeral was held at her home Sept. 10. Interment in the Womelsdorf cemetery.  Text, Jn. 14: 1-6.

John G. BARE, son of Samuel and his wife Susanna, nee GERNERD, was born April 8, 1839, and was baptized May 4, 1872, as an adult, and was received as a member of Zion church.  He was married to Harriet RUTH Sept. 3, 1871, by Pastor L.H. Yeager. He died Oct. 26, 1921, at Sinking Spring, aged 82 yrs., 6 mos., 18 days.  He is survived by 5 children, 1 brother, 9 grandchildren.  The funeral was held in St. John's Lutheran church, Sinking Spring, Oct. 29, and interment at Strausstown. Jonathan MILLER, son of Philip and his wife Catharine, nee SENAUM, was born May 31, 1842, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Aug. 21, 1842, by Pastor Minnig.  He was confirmed in Zion church.  On Feb. 27, 1869, he was married to Sarah A. RICHARD by Rev. A. Finfrock.  He died Nov. 16, 1921, aged 79 years, 5 mos., 15 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.  The funeral was held Nov. 21 in Zion church.  Text, Rom. 6:23.

Mrs. Leanda MOYER, nee BRENSINGER, daughter of Daniel and his wife Elizabeth, nee NEBEL, was born Sept. 18, 1849, in Windsor Twp., and was baptized Dec. 10, 1849, by Rev. Moyer.  She was confirmed at Bern church by Pastor Finfrock.  She was married to Joseph A. MOYER Oct. 13, 1866, by Rev. Lampe.  She died Oct 26, 1921, aged 72 yrs., 1 mo., 8 days.  She is survived by her husband, 8 children, 2 brothers, 21 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Oct. 31, in Zion church.  Text, Mk. 7:37.

George Calvin ETCHBERGER, son of Ezra P. and his wife Henrietta, nee MANBECK, was born March 28, 1865, in Bethel Twp., and was baptized May 14, 1865, by Pastor Eggers.  He was confirmed in Salem church by Rev. C.T. Leinbach in 1883.  He was married to Leah BARNETT May 8, 1886, by Rev. Welker.  He died Oct. 29, 1921, aged 56 yrs., 7 mos.  He is survived by his widow, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. The funeral was held at the house, Nov. 2, interment in the new Altalaha Lutheran cemetery. Text, Rom. 14:7-8.

Henry Harrison HOLZMAN, son of John and his wife Mary, nee DERR, was born March 22, 1857, in Jefferson Twp., and was baptized in infancy.  He was confirmed at Host by Rev. Finfrock.  He was married to Mary OXENREIDER Aug. 24, 1880.  He died Nov. 17, 1921, at Reading, aged 64 yrs., 7 mos., 25 days.  He is survived by a daughter, 6 grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister.  The funeral wa held Nov. 22, at St. Paul’s church. Mrs. Adaline AHN, nee REBER, daughter of William and his wife Catharine, nee MILLER, was born Aug. 17, 1859, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Nov. 5, 1859, by Rev. Zehring.  She was confirmed April 24, 1875, in Zion church, by Rev. Finfrock. She was married to Jacob S. AHN by Rev. Finfrock June 12, 1886.  She died Nov. 24, 1921, aged 62 yrs., 3 mos., 7 days.  She is survived by her husband, 3 daughters, 1 brother and 1 grandchild.  The funeral was held Nov. 29, in Zion church. Mrs. Amelia STRAUSS, nee KANTNER, daughter of Levi and his wife Amanda, nee KNOLL, was born June 22, 1870, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized July 31, 1870, by Rev. Martz.  She was confirmed by Rev. Leingach, april 18, 1885, in Zion church.  She was married to Milton M. STRAUSS, Sept. 25, 1886, by Rev. Finfrock.  She died Dec. 9, 1921, aged 51 yrs., 5 mos., 10 days.  she is survived by her husband, a son, a grandson, a brother and 4 sisters.  The funeral took place Dec. 13, in Zion church. Mrs. Sarah Anna DEGLER, nee PAFFENBERGER, daughter of Jacob and his wife Elizabeth, nee MORGE, was born Sept. 3, 1849, in Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Nov. 18, 1849, by Rev. Hoffmeier.  She was confirmed in Host church by Pastor Grimm.  She was married to John B. DEGLER by Rev. A. Finfrock, Jan. 2, 1869.  She died Dec. 27, 1921, aged 72 yrs., 3 mos., 23 days.  She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.  The funeral was held Dec. 30, in Zion church.  Tet, [sp], Gal. 4:-4-5.

Isaac KRAMER, son of Thomas and his wife Esther, nee SCHWENK, was born June 3, 1845, in S. Manheim Twp., Schuylkill Co., and was baptized by Rev. Kline. He was confirmed April 24, 1875, in Zion church by Rev. Finfrock.  He was married to Lydia NEY by Rev. Kline, February, 1869.  He died Feb. 3, 1922, aged 76 years and 8 months. He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 19 grandchildren and 7 brothers. The funeral was held Feb. 8, in Zion church.  Text, II Tim. 2:3.  He was enlisted in the Civil War, Co. G, 116th Reg., Pa. Vol. Inf., March 16, 1864, and served to the end of the war, being honorably discharged July 14, 1865.

Sarah E. STRAUSS, nee SAVAGE, wife of Joel S. STRAUSS, was born April 3, 1853, and was baptized in infancy.  She was confirmed by Rev. B.D. Zweizig in St. Michael’s church.  She was married to Joel S. STRAUSS Aug. 17, 1878, by Rev. Haman.  She died May 25, 1921, aged 68 yrs., 1 mo., 22 days.  She is survived by a brother and 4 step-children.  The funeral was held in Friedens church, May 29.  Text, Rev. 2:10.
