 In the Name of God Amen I Walter Evans of Hempfield township Westmoreland County being at the point of death But of Sound Mind memory & understanding Does Not know when the Lord God calls me off from this world & in hopes he will be Mercy to my poor Soul after this life depart from my body & lade in rest with Jesus the father Son & Holy Ghost be merciful unto me poor sinner
First I appoint Jacob Stoff My Son in Law & William Evans My son to see & settle all My afair & See your Mother justified in all my affairs
Secondly Bury me in a Decent like manner in Mountpleasant Church yard along side of Mathew Adams& be caried to the Grave by My Six Sons & Henry & his Mother behind
Thirdly Make vendue of all my farm utensils & what you see fit only the old mare if you See fit to keep her & some Household furniture what you see necessary that she may live comfortly and the money & Debt arising from the vendue & what is owing to me Pay all my lawful debts to one cent
Fourthly if there is as much left after my Debts is paid buy four Bibles one for Walter one for William one for James & one for Polly with one dollar & the Lord gives them grace to understand what they Do read
Fiftly I remit to Missy Stoffer my Daughter fourteen Dollars to by a Saddell for his wife & also to Polly Ebert my Daughter twenty Dollars to buy a saddle some household furniture & the remainder to be given to the remainder to be given to the Mother as she stands in need of it & James & John & Richard you to see her well kepp in a descent manner this given from under my hand & seal this 26th day of Dec 1821 Westmoreland County ss Walter Evans - (seal)

Henry Assire ) Before me the Subscribed Register in & for the said County came Isaac Sowash & Henry Alpiar the Subscribing Witnesses to the within Will who being duly sworn agreeably to Law deposeth they were present & heard Walter Evans the testator therein Named pronounce & declare the same was his Will & testament that at same time he was as they believe of sound disposing mind memory & understanding that they Signed as Witness thereto in presence of the testator & at his request that the names Isaac Sowash & Henry Alpire are the proper handwriting of the deponents
