Mrs. E. E. Garland, of 630 Sidn? Street, died at 2:15 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Westmoreland hospital. Mrs. Garland suffered a stroke on Monday morning. She would have been 60 years old today. She is survived by the following children: Charles and James at home: Mrs. Marie Blair, of Detroit; Mrs. Blan? Seanor, of Greensburg; and William Garland, of Greensburg. Five grandchildren also survive as do the following sisters and brothers: John Gettemy, Mrs. Joseph Miller and William Gettemy, all of Uniontown; Mrs. Harry Watson, of Rowe's Run, ? Miss Olive Gettemy, of New York. Mrs. Garland was a member of the First Lutheran church of Greensburg. Funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. from her late home with Rev. Charles Shindler officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran church cemetery, Trauger. (newspaper - 15 Sept. 1938). Contributed by Marilyn Tolentino and Carol Clarke and transcribers.

Thomas A. GESS

Thomas A. Gess, 74, of Ligonier, died Friday, April 17, 1981, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Gess was born November 5, 1906, in Burrell Twp, Indiana County, a son of the late Herbert A. and Laura Mae (Stumpf) Gess. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Gess is survived by his wife, Margaret S. Gess; one stepson, Robert D. McAdams of Andover, Ohio; two step-daughters, Dorothy Jean Peterson of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Patricia Weister of Latrobe and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday in the Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home, Derry, with the Rev. Donn Chapman officiating. Burial was in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township. Ligonier ECHO; Wednesday, April 29, 1981. Contributed by Sharon Trosan.
