Maultby Cemetery
Eldred Township

Home > Cemeteries > Maultby Cemetery

Maultby is a very small cemetery hidden at the end of a road on the southwest edge of Grand Valley.

Maultby Cemetery

Driving directions from the Hickory Street bridge in Warren: (about 27 miles, 35 minutes) drive west on Pennsylvania Ave W/US-6 (business route) along the Allegheny River. US Hwy 62 will join with US 6 before you leave Warren and the highways will become a free-access 4-lane. Drive through Starbrick and continue west on US Hwy 6 to Youngsville. Stay on the four-lane Youngsville bypass (where PA Hwy 27 will join with US Hwy 6), and follow Hwy 27 through Pittsfield (where US 6 will split with PA 27), Garland, and on to Grand Valley.

Slow way down as you enter the village of Grand Valley because there are only 4 streets to choose from, all on the right side of the road and signage is difficult to read at top speed. The directions below offer the best paved road to the cemetery.

Turn right onto Main Street, which will be the second street. To ensure you're on the right road, look for the U.S. Post Office, not visible from Hwy 27, which should come into view on the right. The next left will be Wood Street - turn left and follow Wood Street straight to the end past houses and outbuildings on the right. The road turns to gravel. This will not look promising, but follow the gravel road around a sharp turn to the right and the cemetery sign will come into view in a short distance.

Take a stroll through the cemetery...

The gravel track forms a tear-drop shape around the cemetery.

Most of the gravestones are contained within the driveway.
There are, however, a few gravestones scattered along the north side of the grounds.

A pond within eyesight lies south of the well-maintained grounds.

Tall trees give a sense of seclusion to this quiet cemetery.

There are a mix of old and new tombstones, none very large.

Just under 200 interments are listed on Find-A-Grave - Maultby Cemetery, many with photographs of the individual tombstones.
