I am trying to locate members of the Bernard SMITH family. Bernard Smith was my gg-granduncle who immigrated from Prussia sometime in the mid-1800's. His original name was SCHMIDT. His wife's name was Lydia, and they had the following children: William - b ca. 1862, Henry - b ca 1866, Mary A. - b ca 1868, Charles b ca 1870, Emma - b ca 1873, and Maggie - b ca 1877. I believe Lydia died in 1881, and Bernard died in 1898. They were members of the Amity Reformed Church. At the time of Bernard's death his son, Charles, was working at the Cumberland Independent job printing office.

Looking for information about the HEMMINGERS of Somerset County. A number were listed in the 1800 and 1810 censuses. One of the families was that of Andrew Henry HEMMINGER who had four sons: Henry, Frederick, Andrew Jr., and John. There was also a George HEMMINGER and a George Jr. These are the ancestors I am trying to research. Most of this family moved to Tuscarawus Co., OH in the early 1800s. It appears that Andrew and George Sr. are brothers. Does anyone have any information about this family??
