How To Use Online Resources

Online research is getting easier every day. The Internet has made it possible for researchers world wide to share their documents, resource and reference information, and other types of recorded material.

Some good place to start your research include:

  • RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative has an interactive search engine to search their RootsWeb Surname List (over 500,000 surnames). Please read the instructions on how to submit your surnames to this list - it is a great resource tool.
  • Genealogy.Com has an interactive search engine to search their InternetFamily Finder database (over 325 million surnames) as well as other websites, CD's and databases. Note: this feature is SLOW - so be patient as it searches for a related surname.
