We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. _________________________________________________________________ JOSEPH BERKEY GRAVEYARD Situated on the R. C. Hoover farm about 1 mile south west of Ashtola and about 500 yards north of Roaring Forks, in Paint Twp., Somerset Co., Pa. The graveyard is on top of a hilly field back of the farm buildings it can most easily be reached by following the right fork of the road at the old stone bridge about a a quarter of a mile. The cemetery is then on the right of the road, and under a large old Hemlock tree in the center of the field. It is thickly overgrown with brambles and has been unused for a number of years. The graveyard contains 12 unmarked graves, probably those of various members of the Berkey and Gordon families. The farm was formerly the property of Joseph Berkey, an early settler (who married into the Gordon family) and established the plot as a final resting place for the members of his family.
