My Brickwall - - the parents of Phillip C. Olinger.

Phillip was born 1808 according to his tombstone, although census records say a couple of years later. Phillip died January 1, 1874 in Henry County, Indiana where he moved just prior to 1840.

One person says a family bible states his birth was in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Nobody can find information on who his parents were.

He left Pennsylvania for Ohio at a very young age, but seems certain his parents married there. Almost all Olingers in early Ohio came from Somerset County.

Phillip and his parents are said to have settled in Jefferson County Ohio,
but there are no records of any Olinger in that area.

It appears his father died young, and no sign of any Olinger siblings for Phillip.

The nearest Olinger is of a John Olinger born about 1750 who married Mary (Maria) Zug, and his son Christian, born 1774 in Somerset County. They left Somerset County about 1810 for Tuscarawas County, Ohio (which is a couple of counties over from Jefferson). Christian is not Phillip's father. It has been said a John Olinger died at age 21 in Tuscarawas County, but have no information on him. Christian had a brother John born about 1788, but some claim he went to Montgomery County Ohio.
