Welcome:
My name is Martha and I am the new Somerset County Coordinator:
I do not live in PA, but both my husband and I have roots deep in her soil.

I will do my very best to answer questions and perhaps help locate that
missing piece of your "Ancestral Pie"

"With Thanks to Carol, Nancy, April & Connie along with their Volunteers for the great resources"

Family Search: Historical Images
Records that are not available with the traditional FS Search
The Explanation:
The Resources are wonderful, but the search parameters
and functions can be intimidating to the novice FS Catalog Researcher.

The Types of Information:
Births [Delayed], Biographies, Cemetery, Census,
Deaths & DC's, Deeds, Docket, Orphan Ct Rec's,
History, Photos, Grantee Indexes, Marriage & Marriage Licenses,
Military Discharge Rec's, Naturalization's,
'Soldier Rec's' [Army] Warrants, Wills
However: There are hundreds of files for Somerset County,
so this Chart will only contain Biographies, Cemeteries, Vital Records and Obituaries

So...
The following will help you get a handle on information that
could be of value to your search for Family data.

Use the chart linked above for the Film #
To access the Historical Images, log into your FS Account:
Click on Search, then at the top of the page: Historical Images:
You can begin with the search,
but if you get lost or cannot figure it

all out, then use the chart
I have created to access the information.

So...Then...

Backtrack to Search, Catalog, and plug in the
DGS Film number of interest from the
Chart in the 'Fiche-Film' slot.

Finally, be sure to check Somerset's Neighbors for Marriages, remembering that many times folks "went off to get married elsewhere". FS has a couple of films that contain 'Consent' Records.

This Section will contain reformatted resources from the Old Somerset Files.
There were hundreds of items to go through and assess for updating.
Some of the files may still contain email addies that are probably no longer valid.
There is no way to track them down, so please do not ask.

This publication has Marriage and Deaths gleaned from the Newspaper:
The dates range from Jan 1800 > Dec 1810 for

Both Marriages and Deaths are on the index.
The pages are hand written by one person, so once you get used to
