Charles A. Wolff was born in Mahanoy City on January 2, 1895 He served as a private with the 28th Division and saw hand to hand combat on the battlefields of France.
He never spoke of his war experiences, they were too painful, but on his death bed, 53 years later, he relived every horrfying moment. Charles was a very gentle man and lived his life peacefully until his death in 1971.
