They had five children, Laura Jane Wetzel (my maternal grandmother), Florence M., George Jr.(Speb), Bertha L., and Martha V. He was employed by Central Iron and Steel Co. for many years and was a charter member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America # 716. At the time of George's death the obituary stated the brother Harry was living in Boston. Haven't been able to get anything else on Harry until recently when I found (?) him on the 1870 Census Index for Perry County at this site. There is also a George, John and Mary J. listed. I would like to find George's parents, and possibly more siblings, also more info on J.H.(Harry). Any and all help is appreciated. I can't get back home to Pa. for awhile to research at the State Library. George's daughters married into the following families: Turns, Wolf, Stouffer, Wilhelm. Also links to the Condran family. Their children were: (1) Jacob Frownfelter b. 1833 Perry Co., d. 1904 Shaker Gap & buried St. Peter's Cemetery, Spring twp., Perry Co. He m. Matilda Ann Wetzel. (2) Sarah Frownfelter b. 1838, d. 7 Sep 1897. Buried Bloomfield Cemetery (? location). Never married. (3) John W. Frownfelter b. 31 May 1843 Carroll twp., d. 22 Dec 1908. Buried Bloomfield Cemetery. Married Sara Jane Baker on 28 Apr 1866, who had previously been married to _______ Clegg. (4) Rebecca Frownfelter b. 1847 (5) Maria Frownfelter b. 1850. Married James Duncan

Several months ago I submitted a research request to The Perry Historians for this family, and recently received the reply that they could find no information at all on George and Elizabeth. They have the Berks Co. Frownfelters well connected, but George was not among them. They found Frownfelters (originally spelled Frauenfelder) in Maryland, but found no connection there also. They searched their extensive Ickes file, and found no mention of Elizabeth. They "are at a loss where to turn". The only avenue remaining is the hope that another descendant and I can merge our information and perhaps develop some leads. Any information would be greatly appreciated, and I am always willing to share. Barbara McCusker (mccusker@crusoe.net)

Served as a Private in Company B, 125th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry and 92nd regiment, in what capacity is unknown. Married Elizabeth CARNS Maybe someone will recognize this Wesley DEHAVEN. From the Altoona Morning Tribune, Wed., January 17, 1894: Mr. Wesley DeHaven died at 10 o'clock last night at his home, 2307 - 13th avenue, age 61 years. Five years ago while following the occupation of Teamster he fell from a wagon injuring his spine, and from the effects of this fall he had been more or less a sufferer ever since. For the past year he had not been able to work but at the same time wa not confined to his home or room. Even yesterday he was about and in the evening ate a hearty supper. Shortly after this he remarked to his son, Harry, that he believed he was going to died, and that he felt that way for a week past. His son endeavored to change the current of his thoughts, believing that he was simply brooding over his illness.....Death was caused by paralysis.....There were left to mourn his sudden death his wife Elizabeth, who is now visiting her daughters who reside in Bennington, and these children -- James M. DEHAVEN of 610 Sixth Street, Altoona; Harry, Edward, Albert6 and Miss Laura DeHaven, residing at the family home; Mrs. John Hughes and Mrs. Robert Crawford of Bennington. I am the great grandaughter of Esther Clouser who was born in 1883. She is the daughter of one of these family members, presumably one of the men. Esther Clouser was apparently married to Fulmer Frank Fisher. They had twins: Anna Elizabeth and apparently a boy who died. I do not have any confirmation of the death of the twin. Fulmer Frank Fisher divorced Esther Clouser Fisher when Anna was very young and nobody knows of his whereabouts. Apparently Anna was raised by a man named John Havens?? Not her mother. LINN - Perry Co.
I'm wondering if the following might be brothers or otherwise related: 1. Rev. John Linn, who was born about 1749-50, died 30 Aug 1820, is buried in the Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, Madison Township, and was "pastor of this Congregation ... in this valley for 43 years," and 2. Hugh Linn, who was born in 1753, died in 1815, is buried in Concord, Franklin County, and had a son John who married a girl from Perry County. There is about 3-4 years difference in their ages, and Hugh Linn was from a Presbyterian background and very religious. If they are related, of course I want to know everything there is to know about Rev. Linn and his genealogy. Lynneage@aol.com

EGOLF - Perry Co.
I am researching the surname of EGOLF. I just recently received the application for a pension for EGOLF, HENRY. He was born in Philadelphia ca 1757, and moved to Lancaster Co. where he was drafted into the Revolutionary War. At a hearing for the application of a pension on 4 Feb 1834, it states that he was a resident of Perry County, and was 77 years of age. He died 8 April 1840 in Carlisle. Testimony also came from his brother Joseph Egolf, and two daughters Malinda Albert, and Elizabeth Egolff. I am seeking information on any of these Egolf's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BATES - Perry Co.
I am, looking for any information about the family of JAMES BATES. I am the ggg grandson of James, my name is Larry G. McMichael and I live in Delta Utah. I have a copy of an account written by ISSAC BATES, son of James. Apparently James bought a farm in Perry County located in the Pisgaugh Valley in 1838, the closest town was Carlisle. James married MARGARET JONES of York County Pa. In the account written by Isaac they had a sawmill on their farm, and when they needed supplies Isaac would load some milled timber and take it to Carlisle for trade, he was 12 years of age at this time. Isaac went to grammer school in Perry county and later on went to school at the Mount Dempsey academy. After 1 term at Mt. Dempsey Isaac was offered a job teaching, which he did for the rest of his life, except when he was a soldier in the civil war. Isaac married REBECCA E. FAIR. I am willing to share information about the Bates family. Unfortunately I have very little information that has been documented. I would especially like to know how to get official documentation concerning the heritage of James Bates due to the fact I am in the process of trying to gain admittance into the Daughters of the American Revolution for my mother. Thank you for your time.

LAUGHRUN/LAUGHRAN/LAUGHREN/MCKEE - Perry Co.
I recently found my ancestor (I hope) LAURENCE LAUGHRAN in the listing of marriages by Rev. Linn of the Centre Presbyterian church. He was shown as marrying MARY MCKEE on 16 Nov 1784. After finding the Penn. link I have found a John Laughran/Laughrin who served in the 10th Penn Regiment in the Revolutionary war. I have no idea if he was related. I hope that he is Laurence's father.

Philip died in 1826 and John died in 1838. George died in 1853. George named oldest son Philip and his second son John. ALEXANDER, PATTERSON, CLARK, THOMPSON - Perry Co.
On 3 Feb 1755, Hugh ALEXANDER warranted 344 acres in Tyrone township, Cumberland County (now Perry) which became the BIXLER mill tract and a large protion of the farm owned by George FLICKINGER'S heirs. Alexander's tract was surveyed by George ARMSTRONG in 1755. There is a family tradition that his oldest child, Margaret, was born in Sherman's Valley in 1754, and that in her childhood her parents fled Indian raids several times from Sherman's Valley back to their old home on the eastern shore of Maryland.
The Perry Co. home is described as being near Landisburg on the waters of Sherman's Creek, in Toboyne township (now Madison) just a short distance northwest from Carlisle. In 1766 a house was erected on the property and the cornerstone remains as a relic in the mill room. Jacob BIXLER tore down the old Alexander house in 1840. I would love to hear from anyone interested in this story.
