Mary Quinby Willson

Died: October 1903

Mrs. Mary Willson, of Sharon, died early Saturday morning at the Mercer Sanitarium after an illness of only three days. She came to Mercer Monday to visit her son Clarence, who has been a patient at the sanitarium for some time. Tuesday night she became ill and never rallied. The body was taken to Sharon, where the funeral was held Monday. Mrs. Willson was born in Sharon in 1829 and was a daughter of Samuel Quimby, one of the town's pioneers. In 1849 she married James M. Willson, who died about four years ago. She was the mother of six children, all of whom live in Sharon. They are: John R., Clarence A., Herbert M., and Mary Willson, Mrs. R.A.Hannah and Mrs. Anna Eccles. Three brothers, Quincy, James and Harry Quimby, are also living. Mrs. Willson was a woman of high character and lovable disposition. Since girlhood she had been a member of the Presbyterian church and a leader in all religious affairs. During her long life, all of which was spent in Sharon, she made a host of friends and her death is regretted by all who knew her.

[Mary's maiden name was Quinby, not Quimby.]
