THE CAMPBELL FAMILY 


Francis Graham Campbell (Frank G.), son of Andrew Campbell and Eliza Knox, was born in 1853, Jackson Center, Mercer Co, Pa and died in 1914 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County, Pa,.  On October 23, 1879, he married Violetta "Lettie" Montgomery , daughter of William C. Montgomery and Rebecca Albin Montgomery of  Wolf Creek Township.  Violetta was born on February 22, 1857 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in Grove City in 1942.  Both Violetta and Frances Graham are buried in Union Home Cemetery in Wolf Creek Township.  Their eight children were:  Harry (m .Bessie Irene Gildersleeve), Austa (m. William Cooper), Ora (never married), Mabel (m. John McMillan), William (m. Mary Christy McIntire), Helen (m. John Ford Webster), Mary Belle (m. Charles Roy Taylor), and Frances Merle (m .Mary Jane Webster).

Children of Francis G. and Violetta Montgomery

1.  Harry Dalton Campbell was born 1881 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa.   Harry married Bessie Irene Gildersleeve in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County.  Bessie was born in 1883. Children were:  Donald Herbert, Willis Black, Ralph Carlisle, and William Francis.  In the 1920 census they lived at 413 Lincoln Ave, Grove City, PA.

2.  Ora Annie Campbell was born in 1882 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in 1904.  She was never married.

3.  Austa Eliza Campbell was born in 1884 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa.  Austa married William Josiah Cooper son of Albert and Mary Cooper in Mercer County, Pa.  Their children were:  Ester Leota and Paul Campbell Cooper.  In the 1920 census they lived in Findley Township, Mercer County, Pa.

4.  Mabel Campbell was born August 29, 1886  in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died January 13, 1972 in Grove City.  Mabel married John (Johnathan) Perry McMillan, in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa.  John Perry died March 5, 1941.  Both John and Mabel are buried in Woodland Cemetery Grove City, Pa.  They had the following children:  Elizabeth, Frances, Helen Ruth, and Margaret Lois . 

5.  William Andrew Campbell was born in 1887 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in 1934.  William married Mary Christy McIntire.  Mary Christy was born in 1897.  They had seven children: Thelma Louise, twins William and Wilbur, Robert, James, and twins Paul and Pauline (1931-1934 ).  In the 1930 census they lived in Worth, Mercer County, Pa.  Violetta “Lettie” lived with them.

6.  Clara Helen Campbell was born January 12, 1893 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in Grove City on April 14, 1981.  On _____1914 she married John Ford Webster, son of John Ford and Hattie Johnson Webster in Harrisville, Butler County, Pa.   Both John and Clara Helen are buried in Union Home Cemetery.  They had three children:  Ora Alice, John Francis, and Gerald Robert.  Note:   John Ford was the brother of  Mary Jane Webster who married Francis Merle Campbell (8).  We called Clara "Aunt Helen". In the 1930 census they lived on Harmony Road, Mercer, Butler County, Pa.

7.  Mary Belle Campbell was born February 18, 1896 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in Grove City on October 26, 1980.  In 1917 she married Charles Roy Taylor, son of ___? and Jennie B. Taylor.  Charles Roy was born in 1892 in Jackson Township, Mercer County, Pa.  Both Charles Roy and Mary Belle are buried in Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Jackson Center, Mercer Co, Pa.  They had the following children:  Urla June, George Graham, Charles Paul, and William. 

8.  Francis Merle Campbell, son of Francis Graham and Violetta Campbell,  was born June 6, 1899 in Wolf Creek Township Mercer County, Pa and died in Grove City on December 12, 1949.  On July 3, 1918 he married Mary Jane Webster, daughter of John Ford and Hattie Johnson Webster. Francis and Mary Jane were united in marriage at the Webster family home on Prarie St in Harrisville, Butler County, Pa, by the Methodist Minister, Rev. Barlette.  Mary Jane was born on February 6, 1900 in Harrisville, Butler County, Pa and died on August  , 1991 in Grove City.  Francis Merle and Mary Jane are buried at Union Home Cemetery along with their infant daughter Lila Rose.  They had the following children:  Lila Rose, Viola Pearl; Mabel Irene (8/17/1922 to 9/24/1996, m. Richard G. Porter); Betty Lou (10/24/28 to 2/9/1985, m. Fred Lynn); and Francis Merle, Jr.
