Old and New German Months
I recently ran across the following in a copy of some pastoral church records. Sometimes in old records you might find ministers who notated baptisms and births using the old nomenclature.
Janner, Wintermonat = Januar
Hornung = Februar
Lenzmonat = Marz
Ostermonat = April
Weide - Wonnemonat = Mai
Brachmonat = Juni
Heumonat = Juli
Erntemonat = August
Herbatmonat = September
Weinmonat = Oktober
Winden - Wintermonat = November
Christ - Wintermonat = Dezember
