The Will of
EZRA IDE



I Ezra Ide of Lehman, Luzerne County and State of Pennsylvania, Farmer, do make and Publish this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

As to what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to Intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows

And at first I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid out of that part of my Estate that I give to my son William H. Ide and I hereby empower my Executors to carry the same into effect

Also I direct that a fair valuation or appraisment be made by three juditious Neighbors of all my Estate including my household furniture after being signed with their names, that a copy of the same shall be given to each of my Executors

Also I do direct that the whole of my household furniture (except such articles as I may will to my children) shall be the absolute property of my beloved wife if she shall be living at the time of my decease. Also one Cow & Eight Sheep shall be hers, the land not to be disposed of however to any person or persons except to my son William H. Ide,

And I do direct that the South half of the house from top to bottom and all my farm be and remain the property of my beloved wife during her natural life,

And I will and bequeath to my son William H. Ide the North ____ of my house from top to botton and all my personal Estate which is not willed to another, and all my farm and Real Estate shall be his after his mothers decease.
And I will that he pay all my debts and legacies according to this my last will,

And I will and bequeath to my Son Nathan Ide Three hundred dollars to be paid to him by William H. Ide as follows, viz:

One hundred dollars when he is twenty two years of age, and One hundred when he is twenty three years of age, and Seventy five dollars when he (Nathan) is twenty four years of age, without interest, and twenty five dollars in work towards building Nathan a house.

Also I will Nathan the Steer Calves that he is now raising and, a Home in the house, until he arives at the age __ twenty one years, and if he chooses to work with William the year eighteen hundred and forty three, he is to have one fourth of what the ___ raise. Nathan must not make William cost in less time than two years from my decease.

I will and bequeath to my Daughter Susan Ann Ide One hundrd dollars worth of furniture to be in a Cow and two Beds and other household furniture by William H. Ide when She is twenty years of age, and I will that She shall have a home in my house until She is of an age,

And I will and bequeath to my grand daughter Sarah Ann Major, (daughter of Lucinda Major) twenty five dollars in a Cow or Bedding besides all that her Mother left her, all of which are to be given to her at the age of Eighteen years, the twenty five dollars to be paid by William H. Ide and the property that her Mother left to her to be taken care of by my Executors and delivered to her at the age of Eighteen years. She must also have a Common Education and two good suits of Clothing, my wish is that Sarah Ann Major have a home in my house until She arrives at the age of Eighteen years, and if She should not live to want the property that I will her I direct that is be given to her Brother William Henry Major.

And I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife and my son William H. Ide Executors of this my last will and testament, and lastly my express will and desire is, and I do hereby order and appoint that if any differences and despite ___ questions or controversy shall arise and happen concerning any gift, bequest or other matter or thing in this my will given and Bequested, expressed or contained, that then no suit in law or equity or otherwise shall be brought, commenced or prosecuted for and concerning the same, but the same shall be referred to the award, order and determination of two Neighbors one appointed by my oldest son, and the other by my oldest daughter, and if they wish the two thus appointed may choose a Third, and what said Arbitrator or a Majority of them shall order, direct or determine therein shall be binding and conclusive to and on all and every person or persons therin contained.
In witness whereof I Ezra Ide the Testator have to this my Will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one.
