Obituary of Nathan Hale Forbes

Deceased September 29, 1948

Nathan Hale Forbes, sixty-one, farm foreman at the Danville State Hospital, succumbed to a heart condition there on Wednesday afternoon about 5:45 o’clock. He had been bedfast for the past two weeks.

Born in Luzerne County, he was the son of the late Wilson and Hester (Arnold*) Forbes. During his youth, he attended the Davis Five Points and Town Hill schools. He had been employed by the Gulf Refining Company and the ACF at Berwick. He had been foreman at the hospital for three years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth (Stivers) Forbes, of Newark; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Marty, Newark; Mrs. Lillie Montgomery, Kearny, NJ., and Florence Forbes; two sons, Robert, of Newark and Pfc. Nathan Forbes, Jr., serving with the 7443rd SU Transportation, Fort Clayton, Canal Zone. A sister, Mrs. Thomas Kearkuff, of Raven Creek, Benton R.D., and a brother, Alva Forbes, of Buffalo, also survive.

Funeral services will be held from the home of the sister, Mrs. Kearkuff, Saturday afternoon at three o’clock. The Rev. Harry Buck, pastor of the Raven Creek Presbyterian Church, will officiate and interment will be made at the Raven Creek cemetery.
