Following is the will of Sarah RISTENBATT HARTMAN DARKES. She was the daughter of Herman RISTENBATT and Margreta Rebecca Schad. An article is available on the RISTENBATT family. Sarah was first married to Abner Wenz Hartman and secondly to Henry DARKES.

 

Be it Remembered, That I, Sarah A. DARKES, residing with my 
daughter, Mrs. Agnes A. HAMILTON, No. 2006 Columbia Avenue, 
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and 
understanding, do make this my last will and Testament, hereby 
revoking all former Wills by me made.

First. Immediately after my decease and as soon as convenient 
thereafter, I direct my executor hereinafter named to sell the house 
which I own situate at No. 1011 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, Lebanon 
County, Pennsylvania, and out of the proceeds of such sale to apply the 
purchase money as follows- I direct my funeral expenses and all my 
just debts to be paid as soon thereafter as convenient. Second. I direct 
my executor herein after named to pay to my daughter Mrs. Agnes A. 
HAMILTON, wife of Benjamin F. HAMILTON, with whom I now reside, 
the sum of five hundred dollars for board and for her care and kindness 
to me during my lifetime.  Third, I give and bequeath to my son George 
__DARKES thirteen dollars.  Fifth. I give and bequeath to  my son 
William Henry DARKES three dollars. Sixth.  All the rest, residue and 
remainder of my estate be it real, personal or mixed, of whatsoever kind 
or wheresoever situate, I order and direct to be divided into seven equal 
parts as follows:  one seventh part thereof to my son Joseph R. 
HARTMAN, one seventh part thereof to my son Charles Theodore 
HARTMAN; one seventh part thereof to my son John A. HARTMAN, one 
seventh part thereof to my daughter Mrs. Agnes A. HAMILTON, wife of 
Benjamin F. HAMILTON; one third part of a seventh part each thereof to 
the three children of Kansas D. HARTMAN, namely Abner W. 
HARTMAN, Mary HARTMAN and Margaret HARTMAN share and share 
alike; one seventh part thereof to my son William Henry DARKES; and 
one seventh part thereof to my son George Franklin DARKES.  Seventh. 
I  nominate, constitute and appoint as my executor of this my last will 
and Testament George Franklin DARKES.   Sarah A. (X Her mark)
