Mrs. Matilda Ritchie, aged 83 years, passed away Sunday morning, June 13, at the home of her son David M. Ritchie, 1141 South Mill Street, after an illness due to infirmities of age.

Her husband preceded her in death 31 years ago. Mrs. Ritchie was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. She was born on a farm in Wayne township March 19, 1843, the daughter of the late John and Barbara Book McConahy and was the last survivor of her family. She was a sister of the late John G. McConahy, for many years a prominent attorney of this city.

After leaving the farm, Mrs. Ritchie and her husband and family moved to Mahoningtown, later coming to this city where she had resided many years.

She is survived by three children, David M. Ritchie, Mrs. Nannie Cochran and Mrs. Elizabeth Bratschie, all of this city, and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One daughter, Mary, preceded her in death some years ago.

Interment will be made in the Valley View Cemetery.
