John W. Hague, Sr.


John W. Hague, Sr., one of the oldest residents of Allegheny, and a veteran of the Mexican war, died Monday at the family home, South avenue. Mr. Hague was 78 years of age. A year ago he was stricken with paralysis. He never recovered. He was born in Pittsburg and at the breaking out of the Mexican war took the field with the Duquesus Grays. He served throughout the war as a lieutenant. In the late war he served as captain of Company I, One Hundred and Thirty-fourth Pennsylvania volunteers. On his return from the war he made his residence at Enon Valley, not engaging in active business. In 1878, when his father died, Mr. Hague moved to Allegheny. The following sons and daughters are left: Attorney John W. Hague, of Pittsburg; Stephen G. Hague, of New Waterford, O; Joseph P. Hague, Mrs. Dr. Faulkner and Mrs. D. T. Malvey of Allegheny, and Mrs. Annie Maloney, of Enon Valley.
