Mrs. William Francis (Emma) Gardner, 70, of Ashtabula, OH, died today after a year's illness. She had been a resident of New Castle until three years ago. The daughter of Edward Gardner and Margaret McCain Gardner she was born in Butler Co. on Sept. 20, 1891. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are children: Edward W. Gardner, Norwalk, CA; Francis M. Gardner of Lisbon, OH; Donald R. Gardner and Joseph M. Gardner both of Ashtabula; Martina Marie Gardner at home in Ashtabula; Mrs. John (Rita Mae) Grodek in Cleveland, OH; Sister Mary Laboure of Columbia, SC. Survivors also include a sister, Mrs. Sara Siocum of Slippery Rock and a brother, John Gardner of New Castle; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son Eugene in New Castle. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
