Arthur R. Gallagher, 70, of 2911 Locust Lane Drive died at 7:20 a.m. today in Jameson Memorial Hospital following an illness. He was born in Ellport on April 14, 1904 to the late Henry and Nancy Gallagher Gallagher.

He was a retired operating engineer. Mr. Gallagher was a member of New Castle Lodge 642,F and AM.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie A. Porter to whom he had been married for 49 years; a son, Donn at home; a sister, Mrs. James (Jane) Cameron of New Castle; a half-brother, Jack Cowan of New Castle; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Robert A. Myers Home for Fumerals, 208 N. Jefferson St., from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by George W. Henderson of Second United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
