The following is a transcript I made of a will of a John Robbins in Indiana County, Penn. The words are spelled as they are on the hand written copy I received from Utah. There are some blanks due to words I am Unable to decifer as yet.

 

 

No. 1449    Last Will and Testament of John Robbins, desceased

 

 

I John Robbins of Conemaugh Township, County of Indiana, State of Penn. do make this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all the former wills by me made.  and when it shall pleas almighty God to remove me from this world by death, I commend my immortal spirit to Him in hope of a ______  _______  beyond the grave. Thanks be to Him for the many_____ and blessings enjoyed through His graciousness and for strength of mind and ____.

 

Now to dispose by will of sum and amount of property possessed by me through a __ __ __. It is my will that the small plot of ground containing one acre and seventeen ____ at Hopewell Meeting House at Blacklick Township, Indiana County owned by me shall be given as heretofore for a grave yard a place to bury the dead of all people that may wish to use it for that purpose. And it is my will that men of my heirs shall possess it, but that it shall remain for that purpose forever. And further it is my will that the small amount of land belonging to me containing about ten or twelve acres on Blacklick Creak adjoining the land sold by me to John ( C or I ) Elders now accepted by __ W Good, shall ___ and be for the use of Good during his natural lifetime and at his death to be equally divided between his grandchildren, the children of said Good being: James, Ruth, Sonja, John, and George Good.

 

And further I give and bequeath to my ___ wife Mary all the house and plot of ground with the house in Conemaugh Township of Indiana County with the _______ and also one hundred dollars in money at my death absolutely together with the __  __  pigs. and further it is my will thath my wife Mary shall have the all of my household property during her natural lifetime.

 

Together with some ___ and also tools such as ox ___ augers, ___, shovels, vo, and also provisions and grain that may be on hand at my death, and of the said household property that may remain or be on hand at her death to go to my heirs or be applied as I may further direct and further I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Robbins $50; and to my son Ezekiel Robbins $50; and to my daughter Jane Crow $50; and to my grand daughter Elizabeth McChesney $50; these four last ___ to be paid within one year after my death; and further bequeath $15 to the child of Henry D. Zeigler to be put into the hands of his grandmother, Mary Robbins, for his use and to be applied at her discretion.

 

and it is my will that the balance of my money or affects after paying all the expenses shall be equally divided between my 17 grandchildren viz; John and Mary Jane, 2 children of Daniel Robbins; Elizabeth and Euciline (SP?), children of Ezekiel Robbins; Jane, Ruth, Sonja, John, and George, children of Elizabeth Good; Elizabeth, child of Ruth Barber; Washington, John, Priscilla, Jane, Caroline, Sarah, and Daniel, children of Jane Crow.

 

and I do hereby ordain and appoint John Gallaher of Conemaugh Township executor of this my last aill and Testament. Witness my hand and seal this 18th of June 1856. Signed, sealed, and delivered in presecence of witness William McCurdy, Jonathon Hess, and A. D. Ferguson.

                      Be it remembered that on the 18th Day of September in the year of our Lord, one thousand Eight hundred and fifty six before me John H. Stichelberger, register for the Probate of Wills and granting sellers of merchandise in and for the said county was duly proved and approved the forgoing intsrument of writing is and for the last Will and Testement of John Robbins, late of Conegaugh Township, desceased, by the oaths of Jonathon Hess, and A. D. Ferguson, two of the ____ witnessess thereof.
