Will of Elias Jefferies:

I Elias Jefferies of the township of Menallen and county of Fayette and state of Pennsylvania being weak of body but of sound and disposing minds memory and sound minds and under thinking do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say after the payment of all my just debts and the charges of my funeral which is to be conducted at the discretion of my executors herein after mentioned.  Item I give and bequeath my wife Elizabeth a sufficient quantity of wheat for her and her attendants and that to be converted into flower (sic) and brought to the house where she lives during her natural life.  I give to my wife Elizabeth the house where I now live during her natural life.  I give her a sufficient quantity of bacon with what is in the smoke house for her and her attendants during her life.  Also a sufficiency clothing bedding and to keep her comfortable.  I will and bequeath unto my son Nathan Jefferies the plantation where he now lives.  I will and bequeath unto my son Elias and Joseph Jefferies the sum of fifty dollars and in addition to what they have received.  I will and bequeath unto my son Caleb Jefferies the plantation that I bought of William Roberts.  I will and bequeath unto my son William Jefferies his heirs and assigns the plantation I bought of George Gatshaw subject to him to pay unto Nathan Jefferies his brother the sum of three hundred dollars to be paid in three years after my decease.  I will and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Vail the sum of four hundred dollars to be paid within three years after my decease.  I will and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Vail one feather bed, one pair of blankets and one double coverlet (sic).  I will and bequeath unto my son Taylor Jefferies all the land I………(illegible) possess in Menallen Township ……..(illegible) to the following reservations, that is to the paying unto my son Caleb Jefferies the sum of seven hundred dollars within the space of four years from my decease current bank paper. Also subject to him taking particular good care of his mother during his natural life.  I will and bequeath to my grand daughter Margarett Wiggins the sum of four hundred dollars to be paid when she shall arrive at the age of eighteen to where there is to be paid three percent interest on that money from my decease likewise my case of drawers that stands in the room.  I also will and bequeath to Margarett Wiggins one high pair of bedsteads (sic), one …..(illegible) table cloth, one set of silver tea spoons also one set of china tea cups and saucers.  I will and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Wiggins the sum of four hundred dollars to be paid when she shall arrive at the age of eighteen years by there giving three percent interest paid there on from the date of my decease, also one bed and bedding with the bedstead (sic) of her choice also one set of china tea cups and saucers one …..(illegible) table cloth.  The property that is their mother in my possession is to be distributed between Margarett and Elizabeth Wiggins.  I will and bequeath unto my grand son Bazil Wiggins the sum of Fifty dollars to be paid when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years with interest thereon from my decease.  I will and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Jefferies of Elias, one feather bed, one pair of blankets, one double coverlet (sic).  I will and bequeath unto my grand daughter Ann of Elias, one feather bed, one pair of blankets, and one double coverlet (sic).  I will and bequeath unto my son Taylor Jefferies my black also one waggonette (sic)  one set of hors gears (sic), also two hors creatures (sic) of his own choice, one plow, one large harrow (sic), new corn harrow (sic), one wheel barrow.  I will unto my son Elias Jefferies my large bible.  My will is that the …..(illegible) residence and remainder of my property be sold at my decease by ………..(illegible) and equally divided between my children.  Item I will and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth in addition to what I have left her seven head of cows that now give milk.  My will is that my grand daughters Margarett and Elizabeth should continue with their grand mother while she lives.  Item I will and bequeath unto my two grand Margarett and Elizabeth Wiggins my sheep to be equally divided between them with their increase subject to them sheep being kept on the plantation.  I willed to Taylor until my wife Elizabeth should decease.  I will and bequeath unto my grandson Elias of Taylor my …..( illegible) and lastly do hereby nominated constitute and appoint my sons of Union Township William Jefferies of German Township and Taylor Jefferies of Menallen Township Fayette County executors of this my last will and testament.  In testimony where I have here into applied my hand and soul this 16th day of June 1841 signed sealed published and declared by the said Elias Jefferies to be his last will and testimony in the presence of us and the testator.
