Will of Sarah Catherine Wycoff Farquhar 1835-1909 Fayette Co. Pa wife of Alpheus Farquhar

I, Sarah Catherine Farquhar, of Washington Township. Fayette Co., and State of Pennsylvania considering the uncertainty of this life and being of sound mind and memory and understanding and as to Such earthly estate as it hath pleased a Bountiful Providence to entrust with I give and bequeath in manner and form following:

First:    I give and bequeath to my beloved husband Alpheus Farquhar the sum of Three Hundred ($300.oo) Dollars

Second:   I give and bequeath to my son James Farquhar one set of perforated seated chairs, and also the feather bed and bedding that I sleep on

Third:    I give and bequeath to my daughter Lourena Farquhar the feather bed and bedding in the spare bed room, also Brussels carpet on said bed room floor, also my organ, also my cushion furniture and parlor table, also my sewing machine and crayon pictures.

Fourth:   I give and bequeath to my Daughter Lenorah Lenhart, my parlor mirror, also my double black Shawl

Fifth:    I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Thelma Farquhar the sum of five dollars.

Sixth:    I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Sarah Lenhart my set of silver knives and forks, also my napkins and one good good table cloth.

Seventh:  I give and bequeath to my three children Leonora Lenhart, Lourena and James Farquhar all my sheets, Quilts, Pillow cases, Table Linens and clothing to be equally divided between them share and share alike

Eighth:   It is my will that all my horses and Cattle together with all my machinery and farming utensils, be sold by my Executor at private  or public sale, as he may think best and the proceeds of said sale to go towards defraying my funeral expenses, and paying for a monument for my grave.

Ninth:    It is my will and I direct that my farm and my lot in Charleroi be sold by my Executor as soon after my death as can be Convently be done, either at public or private sale, and Said Executor hereby authorized and empowered to make a good and sufficient deed or deeds, for said farm and lot, the same as I could do if living.  and the proceeds arising from the sale of said farm and lot to be divided equally between my three children Leonorah Lenhart, James Farquhar, and Lourena Farquhar share and share alike, in case Lenorah Lenhart does not pay her indebtness during my life time to me, I direct and authorize my Executor to pay to her Leonorah Lenhart less the amount of her indebtness to me.

Tenth:    any and all property belonging to me at my death, which is to mentioned in my will to be sold by my executor and the proceeds of said sale to be equally divided between my three children Lourena Farquhar, James Farquhar, and Leonorah Lenhart share and share alike.

Eleventh: I hereby constitute and appoint my son James Farquhar Executor of this my last will and testament.  In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal and publish and decree this to by my last will and testament in presence of the witnesses named below this seventh day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.

Signed, sealed and declared and published by the said Sarah Catharine Farquhar as and for her last will and testament in presence of us, who at her request and in her presence and in presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witness hereto
