March 1905 gathering to celebrate the 88th birthday of Thomas ROBINSON (1817-1909). Thomas' parents James and Martha (McMULLIN/McMULLEN) ROBINSON came to America around 1806 from County Tyrone (N.) Ireland with three children. 'Mattie" Martha, James and William. They would have 9 more children (including another Thomas who died about a year before this one was born) but only 3 would both survive to adulthood and marry. This Thomas was born in Petersburg (now Addison), Somerset Co, PA, but would move to Fayette Co before he was 2. This photo was taken outside Thomas and Harriet (HAYDEN) ROBINSON's home near Woodbridge, PA (Smithfield, PA vicinity), on what is now Gans Woodbridge Rd. Thomas and his wife Harriet are seated beside each other. Thomas' friend James GREENLEE is on his other side, and his friend Benjamin BROWN is seated next to James. Two of Thomas and Harriet's 4 surviving children are in the picture: their daughter Elizabeth (ROBINSON) CONN is standing behind/between them and their son Henry is behind Benjamin BROWN. Most of the others are related through Henry: Henry and Martha's son Tom ROBINSON, age 32 (who married 1st "Jennie" Sarah Jane EVERLY then married 2nd the widow Ethel (MCCREADY) MALONEY) is in front of the window standing between his father and another Thomas ROBINSON (possibly Thomas the birthday-celebrant's late son James' son or grandson). The Uniontown reporter "Three Venerable Men" is on the far left. Henry and Martha's son George, age 22, is standing beside his mother Martha (WEST) ROBINSON, wife Gertrude and 3-month old daughter Freda. Henry and Martha's son "Jim" James ROBINSON, age 16 - a contest-winning violinist/fiddler - is on the far right. Standing between Jim and his brother Ben, age 18, is their 1st cousin Dr. Clyde CONN, son of Elizabeth (ROBINSON) CONN. Henry and Martha's daughter "Nell" Nellis May ROBINSON, age 13, is in front of the doorway. Nell would later marry Roy CAMPBELL, who would move west after her death. The youngest boy is Henry and Martha's grandson, oldest son of Thomas and Jennie (EVERLY) ROBINSON - "Bucky" Henry Clark ROBINSON. (We ARE related to the EVERLY Brothers.) I don't know the dog's name.

Thomas and Harriet had 5 children who survived to adulthood. James ROBINSON (1/11/1846 - 1/11/1887) their eldest, died before this photo was taken (on his 41st birthday). The two surviving daughters of Thomas and Harriet who are missing from this photo are (1) Martha Jane (ROBINSON) CONN (9/20/1854 - 7/13/1947) who married 1st COLLINS/Collins? 2nd Samuel A. CONN who died 12/1/1926, and

(2) "Sallie" Sarah Ann (ROBINSON) SMILEY (5/27/1856-6/5/1939) who married "Jim" James SMILEY (died Aug 1925).

Thomas' brothers who survived and married were William ROBINSON (1802-1879) who married 1st Elizabeth MOORE 2nd Keziah BRADBURY and John C. ROBINSON who married Rebecca ELLIOTT. William's son William ROBINSON was in the Civil War (Union), as was John and Rebecca's son Benjamin ROBINSON. Many of both William and John's families moved west after the war. William is buried in Round Prairie Cemetery, outside Plymouth, Il with his son William (the war veteran), his son John (a farmer) and other family members.
