DR. SAMUEL SACKETT, probably the earliest resident physician of Fayette county, was born and reared in Connecticut, and after serving as a surgeon in the Revolutionary war, came to Uniontown in 1781. In 1788 he removed to the old Sackett homestead, on Georges creek, on mile south of Smithfield, where he died in 1833. He was a successful physician, and of his ten children, on daughter, Sarah married Dr. Louis Marchand.
