Fayette County Genealogy Project

HON. MARTIN D. HARDIN, soldier, lawyer and United States Senator, was born in Springhill township, June 21, 1780, and removed at an early age to Kentucky, where he died in Franklin county, October 8, 1823. He was a member of the legislature, served as a major in the Northwestern army and held the office of Secretary of State of Kentucky for some time. He served as United States Senator in 1816 and 1817, and passed away when only in the prime of life.
