Fayette County Genealogy Project

GOODLOE HARPER BOWMAN was of German and Scotch-Irish descent. He was born in April, 1803, and spent his long and useful life in Brownsville, where he was most actively engaged in the banking business, being president of the Monongahela bank until his death. In 1840 he married Jane C. Smith, of Reading, and five children blessed their union. He was a member of the Protestant Episcopal church, and in early life was a Whig but afterwards became a Republican. He was a son of Jacob and Isabella (Lowry) Bowman, and died January 30, 1876, full of years and honors.
