It is apparent the graveyard was given, by different writers,
the name of the adjacent property owners, originally deeded by Schaffner.

Will extracts of Michael and Jacob WITMER, provided by Don Wilver

Mathew WITMER (before 1766-1821?) dated September 1st, 1803, died before May 5th, 1821:
.....my beloved wife Margaret, widow of Jacob SCHAFFNER...but after her death
it shall be the property of my two children Jacob WITMER and Sussana WITMER...

Jacob WITMER (1766-1847} dated October 10th, 1846:
Second, that Ten Dollars be paid to SCHAFFNER CHURCH YARD
or to the Trustees thereof for the benefit of said Church and Church Yard.
Third, that the balance remaining from the sale of the said effects after
paying as above directed be equally shared and share alike between
Polly SCHAFFNER and her son George MOULARD(?).

In Lower Swatara Township, one half mile northeast of Highspire,
on the "Greiner Farm," now owned by the Grays, is a very old family
burying ground, from which we gather the following:"
