TONKIN/TONKINS -Sometime after 1800, Israel and Christiana (Rambo) Tonkin moved from Burlington County, NJ, to Bucks County, PA.  Israel died in Philadelphia in 1811.  In 1815, Christiana Tonkin was issued a license to sell wine and spirits from her home in Bensalem Twp, Bucks Co, PA.  She is listed in the Bucks County census in 1820.  Her son, Charles, born 12/6/1789, is listed in the Bristol Borough, Bucks County census in 1820, 1830 and 1840.  He died in Bristol on March 15, 1850, at age 60.  In the 1850 census for Bristol, Bucks Co, there is a Mary Tonkins, age 45, and a Charles Tonkin, age 8, that I assume is the family of Charles, born 1789.  Charles apparently fathered a son, also named Charles, who was born in 1822 in Paulsboro, NJ, who also had a younger sister named Amy.  It is this Charles from whom I am descended.  I'm searching for the wife/wives of Charles born 1789, and any other offspring. -----------------------------jtorpeysmith@msn.com
