Last Will and Testament of Michael Kline

1796: Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA

In The name of God Amen I Michael Klein Maxatany Township in the County of Berks and in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being very sick and weake in Body, but of sound mind memory and understanding Blessed be god for the Same But considering the uncertainty of this Transitory Life Do make and Bublish this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following to wit ~~~~

Principaly, and first of all I commend My immortal Soul in to the Hands of God who gave it, and My Body to the Earth, to be Buried in a Decent and christian Like mannor

And as to such worldly Estate, wherewith It Hath Pleased god to Pless me in this Live I give and Dispose of the same in the following manor to with, first, I give and Devise, My Bete, and Chest, and wash Dub and Peale and one Iron Pott and one Flat Iron, to My Dear wife Caderina and to Live in my Delling House for the spase of three months afther My decest

And as tuching all the Rest, Residue and Remainder of My estate Real and Personal of what kind or Nature so ever the same may be in the county of Berks afore said or elsewhere I give and Devise the same unto My, these Childern or there hirse Namly George Michaels, Share, I bequete to his to childern namely Elisabeth and George Klein Childern of his first wife, and the secont my sone Daniel, and thirt Jacob Klein, and forth Philip Klein, and fifth Peter Klein, and sixth Samuel Klein, sevent John Klein, Eiht Frederick Klein, and my Dauter Ester her shere I bequite to her three Childern, Hana and Ester and Samuel Klein thenth My Dauter Effa, or the survivor or survivors Equally to be Dividet between them Afther My Just Debts are Paid and My beloved wife her thinth shere of My hole estate I bequit to her for her Live Dime & My Hose and Lad where in I now Live and all my messible shall be sold by Puplick seal three months afther my decist and my Executors shall and is hereby orderet to make to the Purguer a good and Lawfull Deed for the said house and Lad, and Lastly I Nominate, Constitute and appoint my sone Philip Klein of Richmont Township in the County aforesaid to be the Executour of this my will, and hereby Revoking all other wills Legacies and bequests by me heretofore maid and Declaring this and no other to be my Last will and Testament In witness whereof I have sait My hand and seal this thirteenth Day of March in the Year of our Lord one Thousant seven Hundert and Ninty six

Then Personally appeared Dewalt Bast and John Fink Witnesses to the foregoing Will and on their oaths on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did severally depose and say that they were present together and did see and hear Michael Klein the Testator therein named Sign, Seal, Pronounch, Publish and declare the same writing to be his last Will and Testament and that at the time the doing thereof he the said Testator was of Sound Mind Memory and Understanding, to the best of their knowledge and as they verily believe and further that the Names Dewalt Bast and John Fink thereto subscribed are of the proper Handwriting of the said deponants respectively by them thereto subscribed as Witnesses in the presence of each other at the request and in the presence of the said Testator.
