Last Will and Testament of William Heckman

Muhlenberg Twp 1887

I William Heckman of Muhlenberg Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania being of sound mind memory and understanding, do make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.

After my just debts and funeral expenses are paid, including suitable gravestones for myself and wife, if not already ordered and provided for in my lifetime, I order and direct as follows.

Francis Rothenberger who lived with me is the owner of two thirds of all the farm stock upon the premises, and inasmuch as wages have not yet been paid to him, the balance of the stock is to be appraised to him in account of wages due him.

I give him the right and privilege to take to himself his heirs and assigns forever the house, barn, farm and buildings comes to about twenty one acres more or less adjoining lands of Lando Moll, Clyme & Co, Gideon Hill and other estates in Muhlenberg Township, Berks County aforesaid at the value of Twenty two Hundred Dollars payable six months after death, in account of which valuation there shall be executed what is due to him as wages. I hereby acknowledge as one time for wages the sum of fifteen hundred dollars.

I give devise bequeath to Kate wife of Francis Rothenberger, being with me, to her heirs and assigns forever all that certain tract and piece of ground situate in Muhlenberg Township Berks Count aforesaid, adjoining lands of Benneville Delp, Henry Moll and others containing twelve acres more or less. She being entitled to this as payment of wages due her for services performed for myself and wife, this to be her own separate estate forever and out of this piece of land, there shall be paid without interest to William Thomas Heckman son of my brother John one hundred dollars when he becomes of age. Shall he however before that time, become confirmed in the church he shall at such time receive fifty dollars than the balance when he becomes of age.

After settlement of accounts and of the estate in due course if time, all the rest and residual of my estate I give and bequeath to said Francis Rothenberger his heirs and assigns forever, and I make constitute and appoint him my sole executor of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal this 26th day May 1884

On the 27th day of Aug AD 1887 Before me personally appeared James N Ermentrout and Alavestra Schankweiler, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will who being duly sworn according to law did dispose and say that they were present and did see and hear William Heckman, testator, sign, seal, and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament that at the of so doing, he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.
