Last Will and Testament of Solomon Yoder

In the name of God, Amen

I Solomon Yoder of the Township of Muhlenberg in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following to wit;

First. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Rebecca, the interest of one third of the valuation of the farm on which I now reside, that is to say, after the said farm shall be sold one third the amount realized from said sale shall be and remain a charge on said farm, the interest of which shall be paid annually to my said beloved wife Rebecca during her lifetime, and after her death the principal shall be paid to my heirs and legal representatives.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah the sum of six hundred dollars.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel, two hundred dollars and my gold watch.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Solomon the sum of two hundred dollars.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son William the sum of two hundred dollars.

Item. It is my will and desire that my hereinafter named executor shall pay to my daughter Hannah the sum of not less than $1800.00 nor more than $2000.00 for the purpose, to wit: my said daughter Hannah shall purchase with said money a suitable home for herself and my beloved Rebecca to live in for and during their lifetime, and after the death of the survivor of them said house to be sold at public sale by my hereinafter named executor, and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided among my children or their heirs and legal representatives.

Item. It is my will and desire that all my estate real, personal and mixed, shall be sold by my hereinafter named executor at public sale, and I do hereby empower said executor to give good and sufficient deed or deeds for the sale of my real estate, and the proceeds of the sale or sales aforesaid shall be divided to and among my heirs and legal representatives share and share alike, after deducting the foregoing bequests, but the share or portion coming to my daughter Mary, wife of Samuel Heist shall be invested by my hereinafter named executor in the following manner, to wit: he shall either purchase a home which she shall occupy during her lifetime and after her death the same shall go to her children, their heirs and assigns forever, or if the hereinafter named executor cannot conveniently and profitably to the interest of my said daughter Mary, purchase such real estate, then he shall invest her share on a bond secured by a mortgage, the interest of which is to be paid annually to my said daughter Mary, during her lifetime, and after her death the principal to be paid her children, their heirs and legal representatives, share and share alike.
