Last Will and Testament of Jacob Wolf (1753-1808)

In the name of God Amen the 2nd of February one thousand eight hundred and eight I Jacob Wolf of Union Township Berks Count State of Pennsylvania Being sick of body but of good and perfect memory Thanks be to Almighty God and (???ing) to remembrance the uncertain fate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield to Death When it shall please God to call Do make and constitute ordain and declare this my Last Will and Testament in the manner and form following Revoking and nulling by those (?prefacts?) all among Testament and testaments will and wills here to fore By me made and declaring either by (????) (?????ting) And this is my only take in for m last will and testament And none other and first being penitent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my sins past most humbly desiring forgiveness of the same I give and commit my soul in to the Almighty God my Savior and Redeemer in whom nobly the merits of Jesus Christ Trust and believe sincerely to be saved and to have remission and forgiveness of all my sins That my sole with my body at the Day of Resurrection shall rise again with Joy and through the merits of Christs Death and Passion possess and in the merit the kingdom of heaven Prepared for his elect and chosen and my body to be buried in such place my executors hereafter named Do appoint my son Jacob Wolf Michael Wesley and now for settling my temporal estate and such goods and chattels and debts as it shall pleased God for above my (?desarts?) to bestow up to me I do hereby order give and dispose of the same in the manner and for following that is first to say I will that all those debts due that I owe in right or conscience to any part son or sons whomsoever shall (??) Will true by contented and paid (??) or (D????) to be paid with inif land I value @ eight hundred and a convenient time after my Decease by my Executors here after named my son Jacob Wolf Michael Wesley

First item I give and bequeath in witness to my well beloved wife Mary her life one room and kitchen sufficient for her and her household furniture the cent there to dwell and that to be kept in order By my a shared privilege of the spring and springhouse sufficient for her use one eight part of a part of an acre for a garden and one eight part of an acre of ground for potatoes and another use one quarter of ground for flax and another use and all to be sufficient by (????????) one cow and her keeping winter and summer and the bed we lodge in my chest one stove sufficient firewood for fire and stove and that to behold to the door where it suits her best and al the kitchen furniture twenty bushels pf my (?seen?) bushel of Indian Corn five bushels of wheat four bushels of buckwheat and it all to be taken to a mill and fetched back again a spinning wheel but if she marries after my decease this writing and will void and of no effect on her dowry.

Second and Thirdly Item I give and bequeath in witness to my well beloved two sons Jacob and Samuel Wolf all my plantation and tract of land belong there to for their proper use for to have and to hold forever and that to be divided equally as they can agree best and for them my daughter portion and is hallmen share hereafter further to my son John his portion as follows to be paid by the said Jacob and Samuel Wolf the property which I value at eight hundred and forty five pounds which to my three sons and five daughters forty pound each makes three hundred and twenty pounds my wife dowry one year makes twenty six pounds five shillings suppose her to live tween year five hundred twenty five pounds

Fourth Item I give and bequeath in witness to my well loved daughter Mary Oxx the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania Currency out of my estate and to paid by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf in payments as follows to be paid at one year after my decease the just and full sum of twenty pounds of the same money and at one year after the just and full sum of the like money of twenty pounds of Pennsylvania it being from me to her in full.

Fifth item I give and bequeath in witness present to my well loved daughter Elizabeth Spotts the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania Currency out of my estate and to paid by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf in payments as follows to be paid at one year after my decease the just and full sum of twenty pounds of the same money and at one year after the just and full sum of the like money of twenty pounds of Pennsylvania it being from me to her in full.

Sixth Item I give and bequeath in witness present to my well loved daughter Hannah Wolf the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania Currency out of my estate and to paid by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf in payments as follows to be paid the just and full sum of twenty pounds of the like money at her arrival of age one year after my decease twenty pounds of the same to be paid at one year after this being the in full from me to her.

Seventh Item I give and bequeath in witness present to my well loved daughter Sarah Wolf the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania Currency out of my estate and to paid by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf in payments as follows to be paid the just and full sum of twenty pounds of the like money at her arrival of age like the sum of twenty pound of the said sum to be paid in one year after that it being in full from me to her.

Eighth Item I give and bequeath in witness present to my well loved son John Wolf the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania to paid by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf in payments as follows twenty pounds of the sum of the same to be paid to the said John Wolf at the arrival of age likewise the sum of twenty pound of the same money in one year after that it being in full from me to him.

Ninth Item I give and bequeath in witness present to my well loved daughter Caterena Wolf the just full sum of forty pounds of Pennsylvania Currency to paid out of the estate by two sons Jacob & Samuel Wolf and to be paid of good and lawful money at her arrival of age likewise the sum of twenty pound of the said sum to be paid in one year after that it being in full from me to her.

Tenth and further firm and agree all movables are to be sold to did pay my debts if any remains not all to be wanted it is to be divided between the said sons Jacob and Samuel Wolf if a ney is wanted and not enough to order to my debts the same Jacob and Samule Wolf are to pay it out of their own pocket further my wife Mary is to take my son John and Caterena and bring them up in the best manner she can the said John to be put to a trade as soon as possible further part of my land is in dispute with David Potts and can be ney dispose my heirs and executors was to loose the said land the whole will and testament to be void and of no effect but if it is gained by my heirs and executors this will and testament to stand in full force and virtue I do declare and ordain this my last will and testament.

Registers office Reading in Berks County March 4th 1808 There appeared Daniel Spencer and Mark Wolf the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will who being duly sworn according to law did declare and say that they were present together and did see and hear Jacob Wolf the testator sign [by making his mark] seal publish and declare the same writing as and for his last will and testament, and that at the time of doing thereof, he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and as they firmly believe and further that the names Daniel Spencer and Mark Wolf are of the witnesses own hand writing thus published in the presence of each other and in the presence and request of the testator.
