Last Will and Testament of Jacob Gauby

I, Jacob Gauby, of Alsace Township, Berks County and State of Pennsylvania, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in the manner and form following, to wit.

1. I order and direct that all my just debts and funereal expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
2. I give and devise and bequeath to my wife Catherine all my estate both real, personal and mixed for and during her natural life, and from and after her death I give and devise the same as follows,
3. I give and bequeath unto my step daughter Caroline Matz the sum of three hundred dollars, her heirs and assigns forever.
4. I give and bequeath unto my step daughter Amelia Strause, wife of Emanuel Strause, the sum of three hundred dollars, her heirs and assigns forever.
5. And touching all the rest residue and remainder of my estate, after the payment of the above mentioned specific legacies, I give and bequeath unto my three children namely Mary Ann, the wife of John S. Becker, Catharine, the wife of Henry Gauker, and to my son Henry Gauby, to be equally divided among them their heirs and assigns for ever.

I order and direct that my Executor herein after named shall sell and dispose of my real and personal property either at public sale or private sale, as soon as conveniently can be after the death of my widow, for the best price that can be gotten for the same and to perfect this my intention, I hereby empower and authorize my said Executor to give such title Deed or Deeds as well as I myself could do if living to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.

And, lastly, I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Henry Gauby to be the Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, allowing my said Executor one hundred dollars compensation. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fourth Day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Nine.
