In the Name of God Amen

Whereas I Jacob Ertsberger of Tulpehockin in Lancaster County tooke it to heart That all men Must die and the uncertainty of the time, I thought fit to order my house having yet my perfect understanding and Memory Thanks be to The Almighty god who will for Jesus Christ sake take my Soul into the Everlasting rest and let my Body be a part taker in the resurrection of The Righteousness.

What belongs to my little wordly Effects I give to my wife dorothea a full third part of my Moveable Estate and a Third part of the plantation during her life time.

Unto my Sons Jacob Ertsberger and Philip Ertsberger I give all my land with the Buildings and Improvements and all what belongs to it and all the rest of my Moveables for ever & ever to the use of themselves Their heirs and assigns to be Equally divided between my said sons notwithstanding one is the first Born. On Condition that my said sons Jacob & Philip pay to Each of My daughters to wit Magdalina Ertsberger, Anna Maria Ertsberger, Catrina Ertsberger and Margreda Ertsberger the sum of forty pound Currant money of pennsilvania within three years after they are Married it shall be paid to Each of them by my said Sons, I annul all former wills and testaments made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament only. And I ordain my loving friends Valentine Herchelroad and Frants Winerich for my Executors to Execute this my last will In Consideration whereof I have set my hand & seal done in the year of Christ one tousand Seven Hundred and Forty Three. It is the will of the Testator that if his wife Dorothea within Mentioned should happen to die before his youngest daughter Margreta become twelve years of age, ten pound over and above the within Mentioned Sum setled on her shall be paid to her out of his Estate on the same Condition. Witness his hand & seal the 18 of Nov. 1743

Heidelberg 18 Aug 1745. Then personally appeared Mich'l Reis one of the witnesses to the foregoing will of Jacob Ertsberger deceased & a witness to the Codicil of the said Jacob to the said will subjoined & on his oath did declare he saw & heard Jacob Ertsberger the Testator therein named Sign Seal Publish & Declare the same will to be his Last will & Testament. & that at the doing thereof he was of Sound Mind Memory & understanding to the best of his knowledge and did hear him declare the Same Codicil for & as a part of his said Last will & Testament and that Lodwig Gloss the other Witness to this will & codicil did Sign his Name as a witness in the presence of & at the request of the Testator.
