Petition of George Shepler

To the worshipfull the Justices at an orphans Court held at Reading in & for the County of Berks the 8 day of January 1783

The Petition of George Shepler Eldest son of Henry Shepler Late of the Township of Tulpehoccon in the County of Berks Miller Deceased

Humbly Showeth

That your Petitioners Father Lately died Intestate Leaving a Widow to wit, Justina and Issue fourteen children, to wit, your Petitioner, Catharina the wife of John Patteicher, William, Elisabeth the wife of Adam Albert, Henry, Magdalena, Barbara, Justina, Elisabeth, John, Susanna, Mary, Michael & Christina, Several of whom are yet in their Minority and that the said Intestate died Seized in his Demesne as of Fee, of and in a Certain Messuage and Water Corn Mill & Saw Mill plantation and tract or piece of Land Situate in the Township of Tulpehoccon in the County aforesaid adjoining to the Land of John Faust, Daniel Gicker, Silvester Nine & Valentin Raber Containing Seventy or Eighty acres be the same more or less, which your Petitioner is Desirous to hold in Case the same cannot be Divided amongst the said children. He therefore Humbly prays your worships to award an Inquest to make partition of the said Real Estate to and among the said children & Representatives of the said Intestate in Such Manner & by Such Proportitions as the Law Directs. If the Same Can be done without Spoiling the whole thereof . But if the Same Cannot be done as aforesaid, then to Value & appraise the said Real Estate in order that your Petitioner may hold and enjoy the same upon paying the several Shares of the other children of the said Intestate therein according to the Laws of this Commonwealth in such case made and Provided

That the Said Henry Shepler — Lately died Intestate Seized & Possessed of a Considerable Real & Personal Estate and Leaving Issue fourteen children Seven of Whom, to wit, Justina, Elisabeth, John, Susannah, Mary, Michael, & Christina are yet under the age of fourteen years She therefore praying your Worships would be Pleased to appoint Some Proper Person of persons as Guardians to take Care of the Persons & Estates of the said Minors according to Law

Petition of George Shebler

To all people to whome these presents shall come George Shepler of Fredrick County and State of Verginia sendeth Greeting. Whereas Justina Urbach the wife of John Urbach of Heidelberg Township Berks County Lately died Intestate sessed as of fee in a tract or piece of fifteen acres of land in said Township leaving the following Married Children by her former husband Henry Shepler to wit George Shepler, Catharina the wife of John Batteicher, William Shepler, John H Shepler, Maria Margaret the wife of Jacob Weidman, Barbara the wife of Conrad Batteicher, Elizabeth the wife of Henry Ruth, John Shepler, Sussana the wife of Benjamin Minnig, Maria the wife of Jacob Haak, Michael Shepler, Christina the wife of George Keihl and Elizabeth now Deceased Leaving Issue wife of Adam Albert and Justina also a daughter of said Justina the wife of Adam Wommer also Deceased sons & Daughters and heirs at Law to the said Justina, Know now Ye that I the said George Shepler have made Constituted appointed and in my place and stead put Conrad Batteicher of Tulpihoccon Township Berks County and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Farmer my True and Lawfull attorney for me and in my Name Place and Stead to take and Receive my share in the above mentioned Tract of Land and all Interest therein wherein and whereto I am Lawfully Intittled to. Giving and Granting unto my said Attorney by these present, my whole power, strength and Authority in and about the premises. To have and to use and take all Lawfull means and ways in my Name for the purposes aforesaid and upon the Reciept of any such debts, dues sums of money Devidents and Shares therein acquitences or Other Sufficient discharges for me in my Name to make seal and Deliver, And Generally all and Every other act or acts thing and things device and Devices in the Law whatsoever. Needfull and nessesary to be done in and about the premises, for me and in my Name to do and Execute and perform as fully Largely and amply to all Intents and purposes as I myself might or could do if personally present and Alloncies on & or more under him for the purpose aforesaid to make and Constitute, and again at the pleasure to Revoke hereby Ratifying, allowing and holding for firm and Effectual all and whatsoever my said Attorney Shall Lawfully do in and about the premises by the Virtue hereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Tenth day of October in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen.

To the honorable Robert Parker Esq. President and his associates judges of the Court of Com. Pleas of the County of Berks at an orphans Court held at Reading in & for the said County on the 8th Day of August A.D. 1817

The Petition of Conrad Batteiger of Tulpehocken Township in the County of Berks

Humbly Showeth

That Justina the wife of John Urbach of Heidelberg Township in the County aforesaid lately died intestate leaving the following named Children by her former Husband Henry Shepler to wit

George Shepler, Catharina the wife of John Batteiger, William Shepler, John Henry Shepler, Maria Magdalena the wife of Jacob Weidman, Barbara the wife of the petitioner aforesaid, Elizabeth the wife of Henry Root, John Shepler, Susan the wife of Benjamin Minnick, Maria the wife of Jacob Hawk, Michael Shepler and Christina the wife of George Kiehl. That Elizabeth a daughter of the aforesaid Justina died before her said mother being at the time of her death the wife of Adam Albert and left two Children who are now living — and that Justina also a daughter of the aforesaid Justina who was married to Adam Wommer also died before her said Mother leaving four Children also now living — That the aforesaid Justina Urbach died seized in her demesne as of fee of and in a tract or piece of Land Situate in Heidelberg Township Berks County containing Fifteen acres & 92 perches bounded by Lands of Michael Miller Georg Wechein & others with the appurtenances

Your Petitioner prays your Honors to award an Inquest to make partition or valuation of the said Land according to Law
