Last Will and Testament of Hannah Smeck

Reading Pa. April 11, 1878

My Will and Testament,

I Hannah Smeck do hereby desire and request that the following disposition of my property shall be made as follows. After my decease my youngest son Charles Westly Smeck shall have such of my furniture that will furnish a room nicely for his own use he shall have his choice in taking my furniture then the rest of the furniture shall be sold to defray my funeral expenses. I also desire that the house and lot shall belong to my youngest son Charles Westly Smeck as long as he lives he shall have the use of this house and lot as long as he lives.

I desire that my daughter Susan shall move into the house and lot of ground rent free. She will be required to pay the taxes, water rent and fire insurance and whenever it comes due and leave Charles Westly Smeck have a room. Charles Westly Smeck shall be properly clothed and fed and not be abused after Charles Westly Smeck death everything shall be sold and Charles Westlys funeral expense paid and tombstone erected for him. If my daughter Susan complies with the aforesaid and keeps him then she shall have two hundred dollars for her trouble then the rest that which remains shall be equally divided among my children and grandchildren of my deceased children, if however my daughter Susan refuses to keep him and comply with the aforementioned then any of his brothers or sisters or any good person that will use Charles Westly properly shall move into the house and under the same conditions providing that person complies with the aforesaid. When my daughter Susan has received her $200.00 and Charles Westly funeral expenses paid and tombstone erected and the remainder divided Susan then receives an equal share with the rest. I desire that my daughter Angeline and her husband & my son Ephraim and his wife and my son James and my daughter Elizabeth and her husband and my daughter Mary and her husband shall look after Charles Westly and see that he is properly fed and clothed and treated in the proper manner and that everything is done according to my will after my death you will give ??? share that has the bear feel to my grandchild Hannah Rusk and may our Heavenly Father graft it in your hearts to use Charles Westly properly an properly see that he is properly fed and clothed and that he is not abused or ill treated and my our Heavenly Father shower his divine keeping upon you all amen.
