Last Will and Testament of George Breyfogel

1827 Kutztown

In the Name of God, Amen. I George Breifogel of the Borough of Kutztown in the County if Berks and State of Pennsylvania. Gentleman, in perfect health and memory, God be praised, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say:

First. I commend my soul into the hands of God, my creator and my body to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my hereinafter named executors, and as to my worldly Estate I dispose of the same as follows viz.

Item. It is my desire and I do hereby direct that all my Estate Real and personal be sold by y Executors at public sale and all my just debts and funeral expenses paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob D Breifogel and his heirs the sum of ten dollars to be paid within one year after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son George Breifogel the sum of one dollar, to be paid within one year after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto the children of my son Solomon Breifogel late of Maxatawny Township deceased viz; Magdalena, George, Daniel, Israel, Reuben, Solomon, Charles and their Heirs the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds, lawful money, to be equally divided amongst them, and their heirs; provided that if one or more of the said children should during their minority die without heirs then the said sum of three hundred and fifty pounds to be equally divided amongst the survivors of them said sum of three hundred and fifty to be equally divided amongst the survivors of them, said sum of three hundred and fifty pounds to draw interest from the expiration of one year after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Esther, intermarried with Jacob Hinterleiter, and her heirs, the sum of three hundred and seventy three pounds, lawful money, to be paid to her or her heirs within one year after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catharine intermarried with Joseph Gross, and her heirs the sum of five hundred pounds lawful money.

Item. I give and bequeath the remainder of the Estate of whatsoever nature the same may be to my daughters Esther and Catharine and their heirs, to be equally divided between said Esther and Catherine and their heirs.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my before mentioned son George Breifogel and Joseph Gross executors of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made declaring and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.

Registers office Reading, Berks County Oct 26th 1827 there appeared James Donagan one of the subscribing witnesses to the afore written will who being duly qualified according to Law did declare and say that he was present together with Matthew Selfsidger who is not in hearing, and that he did see and hear George Breyfogel the Testator sign, publish, pronounce and declare the forgoing writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and at the time of the doing thereof he the said testator was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and as he truly believes and further that the name James Donagan is in his own proper hand writing thereto subscribed and the name Matthew Selfsidger is also the proper hand of the said Matthew Selfsidger thereto subscribed as a witness in the pro???? and at the bequest of the Testator.
