Last Will and Testament of Frederick Yeager

1822 Cumru Township

In the name of God, Amen, I Frederick Yeager of Cumru Township in the County of Berks and the State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, being old and sickly, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, blessed be God for the same. But having considered the mortality of my body, I do hereby make my Testament and Last Will in the manner following that is to say, principally and First of all, I command my immortal soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner, and that all my just debts shall be paid out of my Estate by my Executor hereinafter named. I give and devise and dispose of the same, in the following manner and form. My will is and I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catharine Yeager, my new house and stable and garden and road to go to the stable at the upper part, Two beds and Bedsteads, one cow, and so much of my household furniture and kitchen utensils as she may choose to keep for her use during her natural life.

Item I give and bequeath unto my wife Catherine the sum of five hundred dollars out of my estate for her use and behalf forever.

Item my will is and I do order that after my death as soon as conveniently my mefsuage and plantation in Cumru Township where I at present live, and my woodland in Alsace Township all in the County of Berks to be sold by my Executor hereinafter mentioned, or the survivor for the best price that can be gotten, and that the one third part of the purchase money is to remain on said Land unpaid during the natural life of my wife Catharine, and that she is to receive the interest yearly thereof for her support and main tenance, which I do hereby declare to be her share and legacy, and what is mentioned above out of my Estate.

Item my will is and give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sarah Dreher, the sum of one hundred pounds out of my Estate which is to be paid unto her by my Executors when she hath arrived the of twenty one years, and if she should die under age my will is that her mother Catherine Rothermel shall have the same or her heirs if she should be dead.

Item my will is and I give and bequeath unto my children hereinafter mentioned the remainder of my Estate after my death to my sons John, Henry, Samuel and Jacob and my daughters Helena the wife of Peter Rothermel, Catherine the wife of Abraham Rothermel, Maria the wife of Abraham Rothermel, son of Peter, Hannah the wife of Daniel Bright, and Sarah the wife of Daniel Shirk, or to their lawful heirs, share and share alike to be paid to them by my Executors or the survivor.

Item my will is that after the death of my wife the one third which aforementioned of the purchase money which is to remain unpaid until the death of my wife is to be divided in equal shares among my sons and daughters afore mentioned or to their heirs by my Executors.

Item my will is and I do hereby empower my Executors or survivor to sign, seal and deliver a good and sufficient deed or deed for my plantation and woodland before mentioned to the purchase or purchases their to their heirs, executors administrators or assigns forever.

And lastly I do nominate, constitute and appoint my beloved wife Catherine Yeager, Executrix and my friend John Geehr to be Executor of this my Testament and last Will, and hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal on the eighteenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty.

Signed sealed, published and declared by said Testator Frederick Yeager, for his Testament and last Will in the presence of us at his request subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

The Executors in this will named died before the 19th day of February 1822 when Letters of Administrator with Will annexed were granted to Matthias L Richards and William Shirk.
