Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Seidel

1847 Alsace Twp

In the name of God Amen.

I Elizabeth Seidel, of Alsace Township in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, widow, being in perfect health of body and sound of mind, memory and understanding, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:

First, it is my will and I do order that all expenses attending to my funeral to be paid as soon as can conveniently be done after my decease.

Secondly, I do hereby order and direct that the whole of my Estate, consisting of some trifeling House and Kitchen furniture, but chiefly of bonds, notes, money and back standing dowers, be, immediately, after my decease, divide into nine equal shares, one of which I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son John, another ninth share to my son Jacob, another such share to my son Frederick, another to my son Henry, another to my son Nicholas, another to my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Jacob Heffner, another to my daughter Polly the wife of Jacob Wentzel and another ninth share to the two children of my deceased daughter Susan (the wife of George Stoudt) named Simon Stoudt and Lydia Stoudt in equal shares, and in case any of my said children should be then dead, then I do hereby order and direct that such dying or dead child’s share be equally divided among his or her children in equal shares.

And I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Frederick Seidel Frederick Seidel Guardian or Trustee for my son Nicholas and my daughter Catharine, he to take and keep the said Nicholas and Catharines shares in trust, and to be applied by him to use and benefit of the said Nicholas and Catharine, in such manner as their circumstances may require.

Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my said sons Frederick, Jacob and Henry as Executors of this y last will and Testament.

In testimony whereof O have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of May, AD one thousand eight hundred and forty five.

Berks County SS, on the 30th day of July AD 1847 appeared William C Levenworth and William Schoener the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Will, who being duly sworn according to Law, did dispose and say that they were present and saw and heard the Testatrix Elizabeth Seidel, sign, by making her mark, seal, publish and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for her last Will and Testament and that at the time of so doing she was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.
