Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Lewars

Hamburg 1883

In the Name of God Amen, I Elizabeth Lewars (Widow of William Lewars) of the Borough of Hamburg in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. to wit;

First I direct that my Executors herein after named shall erect a grave or tombstone to y grave and pay my funeral expenses and other debts should I have any as soon as conveniently can be done after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandson Franklin Seltzer my bed with bedding complete also one half dozen chairs.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandchildren Franklin Seltzer, Esther Moyer and Amanda Seigfrid all my Glass, China and Crockery ware to be divided as near equally among them as can be done.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandchild Carrie Moyer daughter of William Moyer my chest.

Item I give and bequeath all my linens, quilts, comforts, sheetings and clothing or wearing apparel to my other three grandchildren namely Franklin Seltzer, Esther Moyer and Amanda Siegfrid.

Item I give and bequeath to David Hay the sum of twenty dollars.

Item I give and bequeath to my great grandchild George Seltzer (son of Oliver Seltzer) the sum of six dollars.

Item as to all the rest and residue of my estates I give and bequeath to my son Abraham H Seltzer and my four grandchildren namely Franklin Seltzer, Esther Moyer(wife of William Moyer) Amanda Seigfrid and Catherina Mill (wife of Edward Mill) share and share alike.

And Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son Abraham H Seltzer executor of this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Tenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty two.

Registers Office, Berks County SS, on the 30th day of March A.D. 1883, before me Y M Shollenberger, Register of Wills personally appeared Elias Shomo and Jackson Levan, the subscribing witnesses, to the foregoing will, being all duly sworn doth dispose and say that they were present and did see and hear Elizabeth Lewars, the testatrix, sign(by making her mark) sealed published and declared the foregoing instrument of writing as and for her Last Will and Testament that at the time of so doing she was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
