Last Will and Testament of Daniel Graeff

Know all men by these presents, that I Daniel Graeff of the city of Reading, County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this, my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First: My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid by my executrix hereafter named as soon after my decease as shall by her be found convenient.

Item: The five hundred dollars left and bequeathed to me by my brother George Graeff deceased by his last will and testament I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Abigail Graeff to dispose of the same in any manner she may deem proper by will or otherwise.

My house No. 23 and the lot of ground on which the same is erected situate on South 11th Street in the city of Reading aforesaid, with all my household and kitchen furniture, beds and bedding, with the interest of all balances over and above the five hundred dollars above named coming to me and of my brother George Graeff deceased, estate, I give and bequeath to my said wife Abigail Graeff for and during the term of her natural life, and after the decease of my said wife, I give, devise and bequeath my said house. Lot of land, household and kitchen furniture, beds and bedding to my daughter Emma Graeff in consideration of her filial care of me and services rendered to me by her to dispose of the same by will or otherwise as she may deem proper.

And lastly: I do nominate and appoint said daughter Emma Graeff to be the executrix of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of June A.D. 1871.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Daniel Graeff as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who, at his request and in his presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

I Daniel Graeff, the within named testator do hereby make and publish this codicil to my last will and testament bearing date the 19th day of June A.D. 1871 in the manner following to wit:

Item: I do hereby confirm my within will in all respect excepting this addition thereto, viz: I do order and direct my executrix there in named to pay each of my children the sum of five hundred dollars. And also I order and direct the portion to me out of my brother George Graeff's estate to be divided into four equal shares and to be paid in equal shares to my four children, after the death of myself and my wife. November 16th AD 1871.

Before me H C Croll Register of Will did personally appear Anna J H Printz & Geoge Printz the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will and codicil being duly sworn according to Law did dispose and say that they were present and did see hear Daniel Graeff the testator Sign, Seal, Publish and Declare the foregoing instrument of writing, as and for his last will and testament and codicil thereto annexed, that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief;
